Ajith Kumar Addresses His And Vijay's Karur Rally Stampede, Says 'Obsessed With Gathering A Crowd..'

Ajith Kumar has opened up about the stampede that claimed the lives of 41 people in Tamil Nadu. For the unversed, the incident occurred during Vijay's political rally in Karur, and Ajith has also joined the former actor at the event. However, what was supposed to be an enthusiastic meet-up turned sour when dozens of people lost their lives to the stampede. And now, Ajith has responded and shared his thoughts on the matter.

Ajith Kumar shared his views on the stampede 

In a recent conversation with Hollywood Reporter India, Ajith Kumar spoke about the reasons which led to the stampede that claimed the lives of 41 people. He said that as a society, "we have become obsessed with gathering a crowd to show your crowd," adding that "all these have to end." The actor revealed that he has had an amazing life because of his fans. However, he feels that the 'love and attention' the stars get from their fans needs to be monitored.   

In the same conversation, Ajith Kumar shared that fans, in the name of celebration, burst firecrackers and tore screens, adding, "All this needs to end." The actor revealed that many things were happening in Tamil Nadu due to the stampede. However, Vijay cannot alone be held responsible for what happened. He was quoted as saying:

"I'm not trying to put anybody down, but like I say, there's so much happening in Tamil Nadu today because of this stampede that happened. That individual (Vijay) alone is not responsible; we are all responsible for it, and I think even the media has a part to play in this. Today I think we have become a society that's so obsessed with gathering a crowd, to show your crowd. All this has to end."

In the same conversation, Ajith Kumar revealed that there are ways for fans to express their love for the stars. He compared what happens in film theatres to cricket matches, stating that nothing of this sort happens in the stadiums. He added that such incidents portray the entire industry in a negative light. He was quoted as saying:

"I mean, you have a crowd that goes for a cricket match, you don't see all this happening there, do you? Why is it happening only in theatres? Why is it only happening to celebrities and film personalities? So, what happens? It paints the whole film industry, worldwide, in a bad light. I mean, even Hollywood actors don't wish this. We want that love and that's what we work hard for...There are ways you can express your love."

About the Karur stampede

The Karur stampede took place on September 27, 2025, at Velusamipuram in Karur during a public interaction event attended by Vijay. The incident left 41 people, including women and children, dead and over 60 injured. The stampede incidents have grown immensely in the last year. From the Pushpa 2 stampede to the RBC victory parade stampede, several fans have been injured, and many have even lost their lives.
