Ajith Kumar is one of the leading names when it comes to regional cinema. Recently, the actor has been honoured with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, India’s third-highest civilian honour. After receiving the award, in an interview with India Today, Ajith made a shocking revelation about taking retirement from films. The 54-year-old legendary actor also called himself an accidental actor. Read on to know what Ajith said about retirement.
When Ajith Kumar is at the peak of his acting career, his unpredictability towards life is hinting towards an early retirement plan. In an interview with India Today, the actor said that every morning feels like a blessing. He also shared that he wants to enjoy every moment of his life. The actor also addressed his possibility of leaving films. Addressing the same, Ajith said:
“You never know! It’s not about me planning when to retire, I could be forced into retirement. I don’t want to take anything for granted. People complain about life. To wake up and feel alive itself is a blessing. I am not being philosophical here. I have been through surgeries and injuries. I have friends and family who are cancer survivors. We understand how valuable life is – just to be alive. I want to make use of every second of my life – want to make the most of it.”
In the same interview, Ajith shared that he had never planned to be an actor. He mentioned that after he completed his schooling, he started working in an auto manufacturing company. In fact, at the age of 18, he started racing motorcycles. Speaking of the same, Ajith said:
“Acting was never on my radar. I am an accidental actor. After school, I started working in an auto manufacturing company for about six months. I was 18 when I started racing motorcycles… Then, before I started realising, I started doing print ads and TV commercials."
Ajith Kumar was born on May 01, 1971 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. He made his debut with the film, En Veedu En Kanavar. The actor is known for his versatility, and also proved through films like Amarkalam, Mugavaree, Citizen, Villain, Poovellam Un Vasam, Varalaru, Billa, Mankatha, Arrambam, Veeram, and Yennai Arindhaal. Besides acting, he started an alternate career in car racing at the age of 32.
The actor is very fond of cars and thus has an impressive collection of luxury cars, including a Lamborghini worth Rs. 36 crore and a BMW 7 Series worth Rs. 34 crore. Coming to his personal front, Ajith once dated his co-star from Kathal Kottai, Heera Rajagopal, before marrying Shalini. Ajith tied the knot with Shalini on April 24, 2000. The couple is known as the ‘IT’ couple of Kollywood. Now the duo are parents to two beautiful kids, a daughter, Anoushka and a son, Aadvik.
