Actors and actresses are always in the public eye, performing at the center stage of the world. However, immense fame also comes with a lot of baggage. As public figures, they face the threat of having their personal space violated. In a recent interview, Tamil superstar, Ajith Kumar, discussed at length about how popularity is a 'double-edged sword' and recalled a fan encounter that left him bleeding.
Ajith Kumar, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, shared that fan encounters can be quite overwhelming at times. Recalling an incident that happened with him in 2025, Ajith said that after a fan meet, he found that his hand had been cut. He said that during an outdoor shoot, he met with fans, and as usual, they wanted to touch the star and shake hands with him. However, later he realised that he had been cut. Ajith shared:
“There are many fans who want to touch you. It happened in 2005. It happens very frequently. There are many people stretching their arms out. So I shake hands, get into the car, and I'm bleeding. Then I realise I have been cut... It was during an outdoor shoot.”
Ajith shared another such incident where a young, obsessive fan had hurt himself. The Tamil superstar said that once a young boy had to be taken away by his security since he held a broken blade in his palm during a fan meet. Ajith was quoted as saying:
“On one particular day, there were a lot of people stretching their arms out for me to shake hands and touch them. Before I realised, there was a lot of commotion, and one of the security guys had grabbed a boy barely in his 18 or 19. He had broken a blade in half and had it between his hands. Somebody noticed and grabbed them by the hand. That guy was not in his senses. We didn't know if he was drunk or what. He was in hysteria."

Ajith Kumar shared in the interview how fame can be a burden for someone. The actor has quite a busy schedule due to his career. However, when he is at home in Chennai, he has to be confined to the four walls since he can't step outside due to his popularity. Ajith, who is married to former actress, Shalini, said that he cannot go to his son's school to drop him off. He has tried in the past, but then it has caused quite a ruckus. Ajith said:

“I can’t go to my son’s school, drop my son. I have tried doing that. I do it for a day, by the third day, people know that I will be visiting the school at this particular time. There have been times when I have been asked to leave in a very polite way. Unfortunately, people think we are orchestrating this, which is not true. I’ve had my son and daughter crying, saying, Papa, why can’t you be like the other fathers in coming to school and dropping us off. It gets hard.”
