Once, in an interview with Rajeev Masand for CNN, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opened up about dealing with hatred online. It so happened that the interviewer asked her if she reads negative comments online, and the actress gave an affirmative response. Quite shocked by Aishwarya's statement, Rajeev further asked her if she had read all the comments below her post. To this. Aishwarya said:
"Yeah I do. I mean, if I have the time, I mean we all do. Sometimes you do, and sometimes they tell you, 'Did you read that?' so you're like, 'No, I didn't.' Then you're like, 'Oh really? Okay!' Because then it's after that, you know."
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had put on some post-pregnancy weight after giving birth to her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan in November 2011 and received a lot of flak from the trollers. In the same interview, when Rajeev Masand asked her about being body-shamed for her post-pregnancy weight, Aishwarya replied that she was able to handle the trolls because she had faced judgment for so long. She added:
“It makes me smile how in a lot of articles they have the written words say ‘Oh! She has the fairy tale life’. Yes, I have had a lot of blessings and I am very very grateful for that. But how do you assume? How and what basis do you assume? This again brings that down to judgement. Because of the way you choose to look at something, you decide its cakewalk.”
