Just Married 28-Yr-Old Air India Express Pilot Vomits In Cockpit, Dies Of Cardiac Arrest On Landing

Air India Express pilot, identified as Armaan, whose name is not yet disclosed, lost his life after a cardiac arrest while he was flying from Srinagar to Delhi flight. However, the shocking point was that the pilot was just 28 years old and got married recently. The news came as a shock as more and more young people are losing their lives to sudden heart attacks.

28-year-old Air India Express pilot loses his life after cardiac arrest

On April 9, 2025, Air India Express pilot Armaan suffered a fatal cardiac arrest and within a short period of time span, he died at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The pilot was flying from Srinagar to Delhi when he started feeling discomfort upon landing. The colleagues and airline staff revealed that the pilot vomited inside the cockpit after the flight was safely landed on the runway. Later, he lost his life after suffering a cardiac arrest at the airline's dispatch office at the airport.

An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed the news and expressed the lost of a valued colleague due to a medical condition. They even gave strength to the grieving family. The spokesperson said:

"We deeply regret the loss of a valued colleague due to a medical condition. Our thoughts are with the family during this time of profound grief. We are extending all possible assistance to them as we all cope with this tremendous loss. We request all concerned to respect privacy at this time and avoid unnecessary speculation while we commit to assisting the relevant authorities in due process."

DGCA set new pilot rest rules

Such an incident left a deep impact on the industry, who are left in horror due to a young dynamic soul's sudden death. DGCA has postponed the implementation of new pilot rest rules, which were initially set to take effect in June of last year. The updated flight duty time limitation norms were aimed to boost rest from 36 to 49 hours and cap night flying to 10 hours, down from 13, to overcome the fatigue conditions of pilots.

Airlines were told to hire 20-25 percent more pilots. Despite earlier insisting on the deadline, the DGCA has now allowed carried to continue with 2019 rules until the revised plans get approved.

We wish strength to the pilot Armaan's family in these testing times!
