Adnan Sami Born To Indian Mother REVEALS Reason Of Leaving Pakistan And Becoming Indian Citizen

Adnan Sami is one of the famous Bollywood singers who hails from Pakistan but made history by giving up his Pakistani citizenship and accepting India. While many people from his native nation criticised his steps, the singer stood firm on his decision and left the place for his and his family's security. Recently, Adnan, for the first time, talked about the reason for leaving Pakistan.

Adnan Sami first time revealed the reason behind leaving Pakistan

As India ended its years-long silence on Pakistan's constant terror attacks and launched 'Operation Sindoor', which demolished their terrorist base camp, the country retaliated with missile attacks on Poonch and the borders of India. Now, Adnan Sami, who was a former citizen of Pakistan, revealed the reason for leaving his country.

Adnan Sami took a strong stand against the Pakistani army. He stated that he met a couple of young Pakistani boys on the streets of Baku when they appreciated his act of moving countries. The boys stated that they hated the army as they had destroyed Pakistan; Adnan gave a strong reply. He recorded his quick conversation on X (formerly known as Twitter), which can be read as:

"Met some very sweet Pakistani boys while walking on the beautiful streets of Baku. They said, ‘Sir, you are very lucky. You left Pakistan at a good time. We also want to change our citizenship. We hate our army. They have destroyed our country!’ I replied, ‘I knew this long ago!’"

Adnan Sami's mother was an Indian, while his father was a Pakistani citizen

For the unversed, Adnan Sami was born in the UK to a Pakistani father and an Indian mother on August 15, 1971. He moved to India in 2001, but after more than a decade of living in India on a visitor visa and holding dual citizenship, including Pakistan and Canada, he gave it up all and became an Indian citizen in 2016. Since then, Adnan has been vocally criticising the actions of Pakistanis. He even condemned the Pahalgam terror attack like many Indians and termed it as a "horrific crime against humanity".

When Adnan Sami revealed he gave up immense wealth in Pakistan for India

"Some people in Pakistan turned around and said, ‘Oh, he has chosen India because he has got more money over there, he’s making more money over there.’ I said, ‘Excuse me, do you have any idea what my family background is? Do you have any idea that money has never been a factor in my life? I have been blessed to have been born and brought up in a very well-to-do, wealthy family. Money, if at all, I have given up a lot, because there’s a tremendous amount of stuff that I could have inherited from there (Pakistan) which I have given away.'"

When Adnan Sami talked about his long wait to become Indian citizen

Earlier, in an interview with Mashable India, Adnan shared that it took him 18 years to acquire Indian citizenship. He revealed that it wasn't an easy task as he was rejected twice for the same. He had to give up his original citizenship as India doesn't allow dual citizenship. Adnan added that for a while, he was stateless and didn't belong to any country for over a year and a half. And he wasn't able to travel during those times. He said:

"It took me 18 years, but what I’m trying to say here is this, in those 18 years, I didn’t say anything to the world about this. I was rejected twice. I had to give up my original citizenship, and for a while, I was stateless. For a year and a half, I didn’t belong to any country. A passport is just a document, but I was not owned by any country, and in that state, I could not travel, I could not do anything."
