Aditya Roy Kapur Reveals Red, Green Flags He Sees In A Relationship During 'Metro In Dino' Trailer

Aditya Roy Kapur became famous with his cult classic movie, Aashiqui 2. Now he is all set for his next offering, Metro In Dino and his chemistry with Sara Ali Khan has already got everyone talking. The theme of the movie shows how people in relationships go through a tough time. Now, Aditya, at a recent promotional event for the movie, shared his views on relationships and opened up about the red and green flags when it comes to love, and what it would take for him to commit to someone.

Aditya was earlier in a steady relationship with Ananya Panday. The ex-couple tried their best to hide the relationship from the public eye and were not used to often flaunting. They never confirmed dating, and it was in 2022 that they were rumoured to be seeing each other. However, in 2024, Aditya and Ananya separated. When the actor in a media event of Metro In Dino was asked about the biggest red and green flags he sees in a partner, he shared:

“A green flag, for me, is kindness. Just someone who’s genuinely kind. Because when you’re with someone long-term, you go through all sorts of situations. If they’re inherently kind, that makes all the difference. Like Sir said, if someone suddenly shows up at your place with suitcases… that might be a bit of a problem. Red flag could be… who has got a prison record."

The actor is very firm about the red and green flags he sees in a partner and has reflected upon the same. When Aditya and Ananya were seen on Karan Johar's chat show, the actor labelled himself as 'Aditya Joy Kapur' while Ananya called herself 'Ananya Coy Kapur'. It is interesting to also note that the actor is the only member in his family who is not yet married.

Earlier, in an interview with the Bombay Times Lounge, Ananya shared that she overlooked the red flags in her earlier relationships. She shared that she used to always make excuses, and always change herself for the person who was in her life. Ananya spoke from her heart and shared:

"Again, it comes from that people-pleasing personality trait that I have. You should actually be yourself, and your partner should accept you for who you are. For me, the biggest red flags are the obvious ones — like cheating, lying, disrespecting you in public and all of that. I think someone who can't be happy for you when you are doing well is a big red flag, especially for successful women.”

It was on June 5, 2025, that the trailer of Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino was dropped, which has Aditya along with Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal and Anupam Kher. The trailer showcased Aditya not understanding the meaning of commitment, while the introduction scene begins with her and Aditya taking a taxi ride. A simple friendship between the two then blossoms into love. The other couples are also seen dealing with their emotional issues and present-day problems.
