Aditya Dhar Fell In Love With Yami Gautam During The Shoot Of Uri, Had A Secret Wedding At Her Home

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar is currently leading the headlines after the trailer of his latest film, Dhurandhar, created huge excitement among his fans. A spy-action thriller starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, Dhurandhar is slated to release on December 5, 2025. Amid the power-packed release, all eyes are on Aditya Dhar, hailed for his exceptional filmmaking.

Aditya Dhar is one of the most loved filmmakers in Bollywood. Aditya made his directorial debut in 2019 with Uri: The Surgical Strike, an action film based on the 2016 Uri attack. Not only did he make Rs 300 crores at the box office, but he also won the National Film Award for Best Director. He also wrote the screenplays for Article 370, Dhoom Dhaam, and Baramulla.

Dhurandhar is Aditya’s second directorial venture. Aditya’s directorial debut, Uri, not only got him the National Award but also a life partner. Yes, Aditya’s love story with Yami began on the sets of his debut film.

Aditya Dhar’s directorial debut film, Uri: The Surgical Strike, featured Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, Kirti Kulhari and Rajat Kapur in lead roles. It was on the sets when Cupid hit Aditya and Yami with its sharpest arrow, and the duo formed a friendship. An insider from the set told TOI that sparks flew between the two from Day 1.

The source also stated that since both Yami and Aditya were private people and didn’t like indulging in PDA, nobody on the set got to know about them. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Yami Gautam revealed how her love story with Aditya Dhar started. Talking about the same, she said:

"I’d say the start was during the promotion of Uri: The Surgical Strike. That’s when we started talking. I wouldn’t call it dating. But yeah, that was a time when we started interacting with each other and started a friendship."

Just like nobody knew about their secret dating, Yami and Aditya’s wedding came as a surprise to everyone. The duo got married during the pandemic in June 2021 at Yami’s home in Himachal Pradesh. With no A-listed guests or designer labels, Yami and Aditya’s wedding was an intimate ceremony, filled with traditions.

For the wedding, Yami had worn her mother’s deep-red saree with golden embroidery and pinned a matching dupatta over her head. She had finished her look with gold jewellery, chooda and kaleere. Aditya had looked handsome in a cream-coloured sherwani with a matching turban and doshala.

In the same interview with Hindustan Times, Yami spoke about choosing a simple wedding instead of a Bollywood wedding. She stated that from her attire to her jewellery, everything was close to her heart. In her words:

“I was very sure what I’d want to wear. As a person, I’m someone who values my tradition and roots. And my family means the most to me. It was decided since forever that I’ll be wearing my mother’s sari. I knew [I will wear] the dupatta which my nani, she has kept for me, and that pahadi nath, which she had gotten it made for me and for all my other cousins, years back. For me, this is what made me happy. I wanted to feel the warmth of our traditions.”

In 2024, the couple entered the happiest phase of their lives when they became parents. Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar welcomed a baby boy on May 10, 2024. The couple named their son, Vedavid and have been enjoying the blissful moments with him.
