However, after a brief stint in the South film industry between 2002 and 2004, she left fans heartbroken by stepping away from the limelight. Now, after over two decades, Anshu is gearing up to make her comeback with Trinadha Rao Nakkina's film, Mazaka. The teaser launch event in Hyderabad should have been an exciting time for Anshu's fans, but it turned unpleasant due to Trinadha Rao's sexist remarks about the actress. Now, Anshu has come forward to support the director amid the slew of online hate.
The teaser launch event for Mazaka, which marks Anshu's comeback to the film industry after over 20 years, was overshadowed by director, Trinadha Rao Nakkina's distasteful comments about the actress. His remarks rubbed many the wrong way, with several netizens taking to social media platforms to express the same. Now, Anshu has stepped forward in defence of the director with a video addressing the controversy.
Calling Trinadha Rao 'the loveliest man on the planet,' Anshu stated that his words had been taken out of context. She further assured her fans that the director had treated her like a family member and said:
"I really want to assure you all that he's the loveliest man on the planet. He really is, and I believe his words may have been taken out of context. He has treated me as a member of his family. I've worked on this movie for 60 days, and I have been given nothing but respect, love, and lots of good wishes."
Anshu further urged the audience to move past the issue and focus on the film 'for the right reasons.' Stating that Trinadha Rao had 'been an absolute pleasure to work with,' Anshu said:
"I could not have asked for a better director to bring me back to the Telugu film industry, and I'm very grateful that he has been guiding me through this process and I have nothing but just love and gratitude for him and the entire team."
Anshu's video about the debacle came after director Trinadha Rao Nakkina issued a public apology for his comments about Anshu. Mazaka actor, Sundeep Kishan shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter). It showed Trinadha Rao joining his hands and apologising to all he had hurt with his comments.

Trinadha added that doing so hadn't been his intention, as he was just trying to be funny. Trinadha Rao also promised to apologise to Anshu personally for his mistake. Sundeep also addressed the controversy in his caption and penned:
"Yesterday was an unfortunate slip of the tongue by Dir #NakkinaTrinadhRao. It's a wrong example to set & we should have been cautious to avoid it. Trinadh garu & Team #Mazaka apologise for the poor choice of words to Anshu garu & to all Women out there. We are because of you."
During the teaser launch event, Trinadha Rao Nakkina gave a speech in which he gushed about the opportunity to work with Anshu. He revealed that he had wanted to do so since seeing her in the Nargarjuna-starrer, Manmadhudu, in 2002. Speaking in Telugu, he said that he wondered how 'this girl' used to 'look like this.' Trinadha Rao added that he was thrilled to see she looked the same but asked her to put on weight as the Telugu audience prefers 'big sizes.'
