Ace Frehley (born Paul Daniel Frehley), the founding member and guitarist of the rock band KISS, died from complications of a brain bleed caused by a fall on October 16, 2025. He passed away in Morristown, New Jersey and was 74 years old. Ace's family shared the sad news of his demise after reports of the same started circulating. At that time, Ace's representative also stated that Ace was alive and battling the brain bleed; however, after some time, the news of his demise was confirmed by Ace's family.

The musician's sudden death has left his fans, family and friends heartbroken. After his demise, all that remains of him are his memories, which can be revisited through a book written by his former girlfriend, Wendy Moore. The book accounts for Ace Frehley's relationship with Wendy and also sheds light on the musician's addiction. His addiction might have brought him and Wendy closer. Read to know what makes the readers of her book think so.

Who is Wendy Moore? What was her relationship with Ace Frehley?

Wendy Moore was the late guitarist, Ace Frehley's girlfriend, personal assistant, and confidante. Wendy and Ace were in a relationship from 1998 to 2000. During that time, Ace was the guitarist for KISS during the band's reunion and Psycho Circus tours. The couple lacked a regular, healthy dating life because of Ace's substance ab*se and alcoholism. Many people wondered why Wendy decided to be with Ace when he was struggling with behavioural issues due to his addiction. They believe she could have brought him to the right path, but she found herself falling into the same pit.

Wendy Moore later wrote a memoir titled Into the Void... with Ace, detailing her time with Ace Frehley, known by his stage persona, 'The Spaceman', and his struggles with substance ab*se. According to the book, the KISS guitarist was addicted to dr*gs and convinced Wendy to try them as well. Even though she didn't have an addiction before their relationship, she easily gave in to his offer due to her love for him. She was ready to do anything and everything for Ace. She went out of her way to run errands for him, but he never appreciated her, as reported by Brave Words.

Why did Wendy Moore's book upset Kiss fans?

Wendy's book, Into the Void... with Ace, not just accounts for her relationship with Ace Frehley, including their s*xual intimacy and substance ab*se, but also includes the lesser-known, dark sides of the other KISS members. The memoir was a tell-all account that detailed Ace Frehley's volatile behaviour due to rampant substance ab*se during the late 1990s. It became controversial among KISS fans for its behind-the-scenes details and unflattering portrait of Ace and his bandmates.

Wendy and Ace's relationship occurred during a pivotal time for KISS, between the band's reunion tour and the Psycho Circus tour. This gave Moore access to insider information that she included in her book. She also described tense interactions with other members of KISS in her book. She characterised Paul Stanley as odd and dismissive and Gene Simmons as rude and condescending. Many KISS fans and readers felt her book was an exploitative betrayal of her relationship with the group. Some reports suggest that Ace Frehley publicly accused Wendy Moore of embezzlement, prompting her to write the book in self-defence.
