Fawad Khan is all set to come back to the Indian screens, reportedly. His much-talked-about movie, Abir Gulaal, opposite Vaani Kapoor, was globally released on September 12, 2025. The movie is reportedly set to release on September 26, 2025, according to multiple online reports. The romantic comedy film is very predictable and has a bedtime story-like feel. The film can be enjoyed and will leave you laughing due to the leads.
Vaani plays the role of 'Simran', who is shown to be pretty privileged but is rebellious. Her dad is conservative and has already blueprinted her wedding just like some corporate merger. Vaani tries to push it back in a non-conventional way. She is shown to be as impulsive, clumsy and is also seen as someone who throws tantrums. When Vaani's dad's money runs out, Vaani goes to London and reinvents herself as a Bollywood dance teacher. It becomes her survival plan where she teaches Londoners to do thumkas in a lehenga.
Vaani is then seen coming to a restaurant for an internship opportunity, which is run by 'Abir' a.k.a Fawad Khan. Their first encounter is all things flirty, pricky and also irritating. Sparks ride, there is a fizzle, and then it catches fire again. The chemistry does not look forced, and their attraction seems like a dish being simmered slowly. 'Simran' makes 'Abir' angry, and then she gets fired.
The comeback of Vaani as 'Simran' is epic. It will give you the perfect feeling of Kajol playing the role of 'Simran' from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. 'Simran's father cuts off from her, and she realises that comebacks are more than just wearing classy clothes and swiping credit cards. Her struggle is seen perfectly wrapped in couture. 'Simran's dad is now seen not supporting her as his money is all exhausted.
Fawad has eyes that convey a million words, and Vaani's physique is well-sculpted. Their chemistry is known to be crackling as they flirt, look into each other, and it feels authentic. Vaani's romance with 'Abir' is messy but also refreshing. Lisa Haydon has a cameo in the movie, and overall, the runtime of the film increases because the plot of the movie is stretched. The film has a bold ending, and the climax is not a typical romantic comedy cliché. It is imperfect, risk worth, and the ending is something that stays on the mind. Abir Gulaal's shots are like some Instagram filter. The soundtrack of the movie is everything peppy, but at times, it feels as if the pace of the movie is being diluted.

The romantic comedy theme has been extensively explored in the past. The film is interesting, with a dash of sass and cultural dissonance, presented in an engaging manner. Vaani, on one hand, is seen strutting on the streets of London wearing a lehenga, while Fawad, as a restaurateur, is shown to be silly as well as swoony at both ends. The movie drags a bit, but the performance, chemistry, and ending are a little more than just mediocre. The film is predictable, but the romantic comedy is enjoyable, serving up sassiness with the perfect dash of sparkle.
