It was in 2000 when Abhishek Bachchan made his Bollywood debut with the movie, Refugee. Despite being megastar, Amitabh Bachchan's son, his journey in the film industry was not at all an easy one. He had a rocky start as his first few movies had not done well at the box office. His first hit movie was Dhoom. For years, the actor has fought critics who slammed him for his failure in movies. Abhishek revealed how he navigated through them all.
Abhishek sat down for an interview with the ETimes and shared that he liked being positive in every situation. He has been palling with critics and failures like a pro. He sat down for an interview with the ETimes and revealed how, to date, he has managed not to get cynical. He did agree that at times he does get cynical, and it does get difficult. In his words:
"It's very difficult not to when on a weekly basis you're failing publicly and it's being rubbed in your face and people are deriving great pleasure by rubbing it in your face. So you get cynical, but you have to try your best not to remain cynical or be bitter about it. I'm not the kind of person who gets bitter. I'm always the kind of person who looks at the brighter side of life. I do think that life served me well most times and sometimes, it doesn't serve me well, and that's all right.”
When Abhishek was further asked about how he maintained his childlike quality, he revealed that he does not know how he has been able to maintain that. The actor shared that he also wanted to know the same. As soon as he learns about the same, he will figure it out. He shared that there is nothing grandiose about trying to maintain it. In his words:
"It's about being genuine, right? I'm not somebody who can put on a facade and maintain it. If I fight with somebody and I'm sulking with somebody, I'll sulk for like an hour and then I'm done. That's just the personality I am.”
It was in 2025 that Abhishek completed 25 years in the entertainment industry. The actor was last seen in the movie, Kaalidhar Laapata, for which he has been getting a lot of love, as it is on Zee 5 from July 4, 2025. The actor, earlier in an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, revealed how his first movie with Dilip Kumar got shelved. Abhishek did add that he was told to cherish this opportunity and to learn and observe as much as he could by watching Dilip sahab at work. He felt lucky to work in a movie with his idol, who has always been Dilip Kumar sahab for the actor. The actor remembered Dilip Kumar and shared in his words:
"My first film was to be Aakhri Mughal. Dilip sahab was to play my father in the film. I clearly remember my father telling me that it took him over a decade to have the honour of sharing screen space with his idol. And here I was given that opportunity in my debut film."
