Once Abhishek Bachchan shared how he became friends with Aishwarya Rai, and how their friendship eventually evolved into love.

Abhishek Bachchan Once Shared When He Fell In Love With Aishwarya Rai, 'Things Took A Serious Turn'

Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan’s son, Abhishek Bachchan, has been a part of the Indian film industry since the 2000s. He debuted with the film, Refugee, alongside Kareena Kapoor, and received offers for films back-to-back. However, most of the films flopped at the box office. But with constant hard work and dedication, he turned the tables in his favour and starred in several commercial as well as critically acclaimed films. Another aspect of Abhishek’s life, which garners attention every now and then, is his marital life with the Bollywood diva, Aishwarya Rai. The couple got engaged and then tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2007, and welcomed their little angel, Aaradhya, in 2011. 

When Abhishek Bachchan revealed how his friendship with Aishwarya Rai evolved into love

Once, Abhishek Bachchan shared how he met his lovely wife and went from being friends to life partners. In 2018, during a conversation at India Today Conclave East, the actor shared the nitty gritty of his love story and revealed that he worked with Aishwarya on the 2000 film, Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, and from there, their friendship started and eventually evolved into something special. He said:

“I first worked with Aishwarya in my initial films. We first worked together on Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. We were friends since then. We were dear friends. We were simultaneously doing another film, Kuch Na Kaho. We always had a close friendship, and in time, it evolved into something more than that.”

Jr. Bachchan then went on to reveal that he fell in love with Aishwarya while they were filming for the 2006 musical romantic drama, Umrao Jaan. He revealed that he proposed to the Bollywood diva, and then they got married. Abhishek also heaped praises on Aishwarya, saying that she is dedicated to whatever she does. He said:

“Things took a serious turn during Umrao Jaan. After that, I proposed to her and then we got married, and now we have a beautiful daughter, Aaradhya. Aishwarya is dedicated to whatever she does, be it acting, or as a mother.”

When Abhishek Bachchan said that he knew Aishwarya Rai was the one in his life

During a conversation with Hindustan Times in 2018, Abhishek Bachchan revealed that the moment he and Aishwarya got together, they knew that this was their endgame. He further said that he needed to ask his wife, who fell in love first amongst the two. Abhishek said:

“I’ve never asked who fell in love first, actually. I’ll have to ask her that. But the moment we got together; we knew this was it.”

Abhishek Bachchan once mentioned that Aishwarya Rai has been his dear friend

During a conversation with Siddharth Kanan in 2021, Abhishek also revealed that he had been friends with Aishwarya for the longest time. He shared that his wife had always been his dear friend. Jr. Bachchan further emphasised that the universe conspired to bring the two of them together. He said:

"So, she'd been a dear, dear friend, and we'd worked in so many films together. It was a bit of both. The universe conspired to bring us together.”
