Abhishek Bachchan On Amitabh-Jaya's Importance In His Life, 'Before I Go To God, I Go To My Parents'

Abhishek Bachchan is a well-known name in the Hindi film industry. His acting skills, style, aura, and honest attitude have impressed fans during the past 25 years of his career. However, he is also recognised for belonging to one of B-Town's most powerful families, the Bachchan clan. Abhishek's tight bond with his parents, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, has always been appreciated by fans. Most recently, the actor opened up about his family-oriented nature, revealing that he placed his family above God.

Abhishek Bachchan recently sat down for a candid chat with CNN TV-18, during which he opened up about his views on religion and his family. The actor clearly stated that he valued his family's opinions above all else. Talking about how he didn't consider himself overly religious, Abhishek said:

"I don't know if I am overtly religious. I have my equation with God, but before I go to God, I go to my parents. I think they should be the first people you lean on. To me, they are equivalent to God. I am what I am because of my family. I'm a very family-oriented person. Everything I do, I do for my family, and they are my go-to people."

Abhishek further stated that all people really needed was to be able to go home to 'a loving, supportive, healthy, happy family.' Being in the filmy world, however, brings its challenges, which for Abhishek meant constant comparisons with his father and his wife. However, in the same interview, the actor sagely addressed the issue, saying:

"If you are comparing me to my father, you are comparing me to the best. If you are comparing me to the best, somewhere, I believe that maybe I am worthy of being considered among these great names. I look at it like that. My parents are my parents, my family is my family, my wife is my wife, and I am immensely proud of them and their achievements and what they continue to do."

Abhishek Bachchan took a moment to emphasise the father's contribution to his child's life. Citing his own father, Amitabh's example, Abhishek stated that he would leave the house at half past six in the morning so that the latter could sleep till 8-9. Pointing out that what fathers' did for their kids often went unseen, Abhishek said:

"Paa, I don’t know if it’s the right thing to say. I hope people don’t misunderstand. Lekin aaj humlog yaha baithe hain, raat ke 10 baaj gaye hain, subah 6:30 ko mere pitaji ghar se nikle the taa ki subah 8-9 baje hum aram se jaag sake. Koi zyada baat nahi karte hain ki pitaa apne bachhon ke liye kya kya karte hain kyunki wo chupchap karte hain."

During that conversation, Abhishek Bachchan shared that his mother, Jaya Bachchan, has a strict rule in the house, and he and Aishwarya have to have at least one meal with the family if they are in town. Oprah also asked the couple if it was common for Indians to stay with their parents even after marriage, and the duo confirmed the same. Abhishek elaborated that his father, Amitabh Bachchan, lived with his parents, and now he is following in his footsteps.
