Back in April 2024, Abhijeet Bhattacharjee gave an interview in which he talked about Bollywood celebrities and their patriotism. Sharing his views on the same, he stated how there's an actor in Bollywood, who went to Ram Mandir but his wife criticises the same party who built it. Although he hadn't taken Amitabh Bachchan's name, it was clear that he was referring to him when he mentioned that he was referring to a Bollywood star with a politician-wife.
For the uninitiated, Big B went to Ram Mandir's inauguration ceremony. On the contrary, Jaya Bachchan belongs to the Samajwadi Party, which has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party for constructing the Ayodhya temple. While some supported Abhijeet Bhattacharjee for his bold comments on Bollywood celebrities and targetting Jaya Bachchan, most of the people criticised him for his controversial remarks. He said:
"Here is a husband who says something and his wife goes to the Parliament House and makes fun of the same things. Here someone is going to see Ram Lalla, while his wife, who belongs to a particular party, is saying bad things about Lord Ram. That's why I would say that don't make someone a patriot by giving money."
In an old interview with a leading publication, Abhijeet Bhattacharjee targeted Salman Khan and shared how the Bollywood superstar had allegedly promoted Pakistani artists in India. The iconic singer added that Salman prioritised Pakistani singers over good Indian singers, and it was deliberate. Abhijeet shared that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan replaced Arijit Singh and also the latter for apologising to Salman. As soon as his comments made their way online, Salman's massive fanbase lashed out at Abhijeet for his comments on their favourite star.
Abhijeet Bhattacharjee is often regarded as the singer who has sung some of the most memorable songs of Shah Rukh Khan's illustrious career. Despite working together for decades, Abhijeet and Shah Rukh had a fallout, after which they never worked together. However, Abhijeet has numerous complaints against Shah Rukh and music producers for not giving him credit and humiliating him. Things turned ugly when Abhijeet labelled SRK as a 'commercialised' person. Not only this, he also added that Shah Rukh would remove anyone if they were standing on the path of his success.
Despite so many differences between him and Shah Rukh Khan, Abhijeet Bhattacharjee came out in the latter's support when SRK was called 'anti-national'. He defended the Bollywood star. However, it's also true that in another interview, he took an indirect dig at Shah Rukh, saying that the superstar was well aware of the humiliation he faced from music directors. He said:
"I know myself very well, and I know him very well, too, even though we don't have a close bond. He knows that I have been hurt."
