With the ongoing ICC World Cup, the cricketing personalities are busier than ever, from evaluating the player's performances to voicing their opinions on what should have been done differently. In one such press conference, former Pakistani cricketer, Abdul Razzaq made a disdainful and derogatory comment about Indian actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
A press conference was held in Pakistan to discuss the unsatisfactory performance of their National team in the ICC World Cup 2023. Amidst the discussion, former Pakistani cricketer and coach, Abdul Razzaq passed an unsolicited comment on Indian actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Abdul Razzaq said:

"If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai, a good and pious kid would be born, it would never happen."

Soon after the comment was passed by Abdul Razzaq, it caused an uproar among Pakistani netizens and fellow cricketers. Masses castigated his comment, forcing him to apologise for the comment publicly. Talking to SAMAA TV about his comment on Aishwarya Rai comment, Abdul stated:
“Kal press conference mei cricket ki baat ho rahi thi, coaching ki baat ho rahi thi aur intentions ki baat ho rahi thi. Meri zubaan fisal gai aur example koi aur deni thi aur meine Aishwarya Rai ka naam muh se nikal gaya. Mei apologies karta hu, sorry karta hu unse. Aur meri yeh intend nehi thi.”
When Abdul Razzaq passed the distasteful comment on Aishwarya Rai, former Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi was present beside him, who looked zoned out and merely laughed at Abdul's statement. However, later, he talked to SAMMA TV and added:

"We were sitting in a conference where Razzaq was saying something; I didn't hear what he exactly said and started laughing. In my mind, I was sure that he must have cracked some joke as per his nature, but when I came, someone shared the clip with me, and when I heard what he said, I felt terrible. I would now text Abdul Razzaq to say sorry for what he said."

Former Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar took to his X account (former Twitter) and condemned the words of Abdul Razzaq. He even rebuked the audience and fellow panellists present there who did not correct Abdul but instead laughed at the insensitive joke.
