Aasif Sheikh is a popular name in the Indian TV industry. He has been working for over thirty years, and his impeccable comic timing, versatile roles, and powerful dialogue delivery have won a lot of appreciation. The actor has been working on one of his most popular shows, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, as 'Vibhuti Narayan Mishra.' However, a recent piece of news about the actor's ill health left fans concerned. Aasif Sheikh recently spoke about the same in his first statement after the incident. Here's what he has to say.

Aasif Sheikh reveals he was brought on a wheelchair from Dehradun to Mumbai 

Aasif Sheikh has been working from the 80s in the TV and film industry. The actor, who turned 60, has maintained himself and strives to maintain his fitness. Amid this, fans were left concerned after media reports shared that he collapsed on the set of his show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, while filming in Dehradun. There was no official confirmation, which confused fans, but recently, Aasif Sheikh released his first statement on the incident and mentioned that it is true.

Aasif Sheikh shared that while shooting for his show, he began feeling numbness in his foot, which worsened. As per reports, he was rushed to the hospital, and the actor revealed that he was brought back to Mumbai in a wheelchair, where he has been on bed rest as per the doctor's advice. Recalling the incident and sharing an update on his recovery, the actor shared: 

"I was shooting for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain in Dehradun, and there I started feeling numbness in my foot, and sciatica pain made the situation worse. I was brought in a wheelchair to Mumbai, and I have been advised a complete bed rest. I landed here on the 18th, and since then, I am taking rest, and my treatment is on. I think I will take a rest for one more week, and I hope I will be in front of the camera."

When Aasif Sheikh expressed his desire to play 'meaty roles' despite his increasing age 

Previously, in an interview with Mid-Day, Aasif Sheikh shared that Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai has given him a new life and fame. He revealed that someone his age (in his late 50s) easily acknowledges that they will get to play some kind of elderly supporting role on-screen. Aasif admitted that he had also hoped the same, but he is grateful to get this show and wants to get at least one more meaty role like this. In his words."

"Typically, an actor my age accepts that he will be limited to playing elderly supporting characters on screen. I was also losing hope and had mentally prepared myself to dress in traditional kurta pyjamas and stand behind a cast of actors. I have played over 350 characters on this show in these eight years. It is quite an achievement for an actor at 58."

Aasif Sheikh's career so far

Aasif Sheikh began his career in the TV industry by playing the role of 'Prince Ajay Singh' in Hum Log, India's first daily soap back in 1984. Since then, he never looked back and worked in films and TV shows like Ajoobe, Yes Boss, Muskaan, Dill Mill Gayye, Ring Wrong Ring, Karan Arjun, Jodi No. 1, Bharat, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, among others.
