Bollywood superstar, Aamir Khan, is winning hearts with his latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, which has been running successfully in theatres. The actor consistently charms fans with his candid revelations about relationships, love, and emotional growth. This time, Aamir once again impressed his fans by opening up about his relationship dynamics, reflecting on his past marriages with Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. The superstar described how, despite having ended their marriage on paper, his bond with both his wives remained deeply rooted in love, trust, and mutual respect.
In an industry often plagued by messy breakups and tabloid drama, Aamir Khan’s approach to marriages, relationships, and divorce definitely stands out, given his beautiful bond with both his ex-wives. In an honest conversation with Filmfare, Aamir talked about his divorces, revealing that he and his ex-wives didn’t even hire separate lawyers. The superstar described both Reena and Kiran as ‘remarkable’ women who continue to be integral parts of his life. He shared:
“I’ve been fortunate that the two women in my life, Reena and Kiran, have both been remarkable. Though we’re no longer married, the love and respect have never faded. That’s what’s kept us close even after parting ways. There was no bitterness with either… During both divorces, we didn’t even hire separate lawyers. Just one lawyer, one conversation. That was it. These weren’t battles, just two people parting as partners, not adversaries.”
Aamir married Reena Dutta in 1996, and the couple became parents to two children, Junaid and Ira Khan. After 16 years of marital bliss, they parted ways in 2002. His second marriage to Kiran Rao, whom he married in 2005, also lasted nearly 17 years, and they co-parent their son, Azad. Despite the separations, Aamir emphasised that their familial bond remains unshaken.
Speaking about his ex-wives and how they remained respectful after the divorce, Aamir reflected on their rare and beautiful dynamics. Despite the separation, Reena and Kiran only came closer and became a family that the Dangal star can depend on in times of crisis, and vice versa. Speaking about their beautiful bond, Aamir shared:
“But for a respectful, loving bond to continue after a marriage ends, both people have to want that. Reena is gracious, Kiran is gracious, and I’ve tried to be the same… If I’m in a crisis, they’d be the first to stand by me, and I’d do the same for them, no hesitation. These bonds aren’t performative; they’re deeply real.”
Earlier this year, on his 60th birthday, Aamir introduced his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, to the world. He has mentioned in several interviews how close Gauri is to his family, including his ex-wives, Reena and Kiran. Speaking to Filmfare, the actor revealed that therapy and self-reflection have transformed him into a more grounded version of himself. He remarked:

“Gauri is meeting a different Aamir now, a more healed version. A little more at ease. Hopefully, a little better.”
On the work front, Aamir’s latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, is performing well at the box office, raking in over Rs. 75 crore within six days of its release on June 20, 2025. The film has received positive reviews and marks a strong comeback for the actor after a brief hiatus.
