Zayed Khan, the youngest son of Sanjay Khan and Zarine Khan, became an overnight sensation as he portrayed the important role of Shah Rukh Khan's half-brother, 'Laxman Prasad Sharma', in the film Main Hoon Na. His long tresses and cool biker jackets instantly became a rage in the mid-2000s. While every girl's heart started beating for Zayed Khan (and not Shah Rukh Khan), the actor was already in love with Malaika Parekh.
Zayed Khan's wife, Malaika Parekh, is the daughter of reputed diamond merchant, Rohit Parekh and his wife, Chris Parekh. She was born on August 23, 1980, in Mumbai. Malaika joined her late father's jewellery business. She is trained in gems and works as a jewellery designer.
Zayed and Malaika were childhood sweethearts. They fell in love with each other during their school days at Kodaikanal International School in Kodaikanal. While Zayed became an actor, Malaika pursued her graduation from Boston College. Once, Malaika revealed that Zayed had proposed to her four times, and she had four rings from it. In fact, Zayed promised to achieve something huge in life, and she waited for him.
According to a report in Deccan Herald, Malaika Parekh converted to Islam to marry Zayed Khan. The couple got married in a Nikah ceremony on July 3, 2005, in Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. Zayed wore a bandhgala sherwani. On the other hand, the bride, Malaika, chose to wear a traditional Muslim ensemble, a sharara in golden and light green hues.
Malaika accessorised her look with a diamond necklace and a matching maang teeka. Her hair was tied at the back with her head covered with dupatta. Glossy makeup with silver-toned eyeshadow and pink glossy lips completed her look.

Not many know that apart from a nikah, the couple also got married as per a Hindu ceremony. In an interview for the Couple of Things YouTube channel, Zayed Khan revealed that he had a secret marriage to his wife, Malaika, according to Hindu Vedic ways. He revealed that the couple had invited thirty of their friends to Taj Village in Goa, and they surprised everyone with their intimate wedding. Zayed added that he didn't want a grand wedding with 2,000 people, as they thought it was a circus. Recalling the moment, Zayed said:
"I've never mentioned this before. Our wedding guest list had 2,000 names. In our minds, we're wondering if this is a wedding or a circus. So, we called up 30 of our friends and told them that we are going to Taj Village in Goa, and there’s a surprise for everybody there."
Zayed Khan further added that it was his wife, Malaika, who organised a pandit and pheras, which was a beautiful destination wedding. It was a beautiful, memorable event. He was questioned about whether Zayed and Malaika were actually married before they officially got married. He said:
"Very sweetly, she had organised a pandit and pheras. And in Goa, at Taj Village, we actually got married before we got married. We did our seven pheras, and it was such a beautiful destination wedding. We really wanted to remember our wedding day and have fun."
Well, Zayed's love story with Malaika proves that when love is true, you happily embrace each other's rituals and beliefs.
