'Dangal' Girl, Zaira Wasim, Who Quit Showbiz For Faith, Announces Her Marriage In A Rare IG Post

Zaira Wasim was once the biggest newcomer in Bollywood and the Indian box office, even as a teenager. However, she left the industry as quickly as she found success in 2019 and has since lived a life far away from the spotlight in recent years. As the former actress left showbiz to focus on her faith, she used to rarely share updates from her life with fans. However, in a surprising turn, the Dangal star recently shared a major life update: her marriage.

Zaira Wasim ties the knot in a private nikaah ceremony 

On October 17, 2025, Zaira took to Instagram to share two serene photos from her nikaah ceremony. One image shows her signing the nikaah nama (also known as the marriage certificate). It captured her henna-clad hands and a glimpse of her bright golden wedding outfit. Meanwhile, the second captured a tender moment of her and her husband standing side by side, gazing at the moon with their backs to the camera. She kept her post simple and intimate. Sharing a simple and traditional caption with the post, she penned:

"Qubool hai ×3".

The 23-year-old former actress did not reveal the face of her husband. She has continued to keep her recent self and her life partner's identity under wraps, maintaining the same level of privacy she has upheld since leaving the entertainment industry. The post went viral in no time, receiving heartfelt reactions from fans and colleagues alike. One user wrote, "Ek time tha jab dangal movie aye thi, and you are my crush that time mein hamesha apke bare mein he sochta tha, but apka transformation towards islam ek bhout he pyaare cheez hue hai Allah apko hamesha khus rakhe. Zaira aap bhout pyaari hai." Simultaneously, another fan commented, "Allah aapko hamesa khush or aabad rakhe bhut bhut mubarak sister." Several fans even praised the newlywed for keeping things simple and private.

Why did Zaira Wasim leave Bollywood?

Zaira Wasim had a bright career ahead of her. But she left fans and the industry in shock after announcing her decision to step away from films in 2019. She explained that her decision to exit Bollywood was driven by a realisation about how she was unable to balance her faith. Zaira shared a heartfelt Facebook post, mentioning that showbiz was leading her away from peace and spiritual fulfillment. In her words:

 "Though I may fit in here perfectly, I do not belong here anymore."

Zaira Wasim's unforgettable stint in Bollywood 

Zaira Wasim's short but powerful journey in Bollywood remains unforgettable. She made her acting debut in Aamir Khan's 2016 blockbuster Dangal, where she played the younger version of a wrestler. Geeta Phogat. The film was a massive success, earning her the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She later starred in the Aamir Khan-produced film, Secret Superstar in 2017 as the lead. 

Her portrayal of a young girl chasing her dream of becoming a singer cemented her place in the industry. It was one of the most profitable Indian movies ever, grossing over USD 965 million worldwide, especially in China. Later, her final film was The Sky Is Pink in 2019, co-starring alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Farhan Akhtar. In the film, Zaira's the role of Aisha Chaudhary, who fought a rare medical condition that left everyone stunned.
