As a producer and director, he did not only make films but also created unforgettable love stories. Though, out of all the reel-life romances that he depicted through his films, Yash Chopra's favourite one was the real-life love story between him and his wife, Pamela Chopra. 

Married in 1970, a wedding tape from the couple's happy day has resurfaced on social media. Netizens are not only impressed by the clear quality of the video, which was taken 55 years ago, but they are also amazed to see that Yash Chopra's wedding looked like a scene straight out of one of his movies. Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra had an arranged marriage 

In all of Yash Raj Chopra's films, the main lead has to face numerous challenges before getting a happy ending. However, the filmmaker's own love story was quite sweet and straightforward. In an interview with Rediff, Pamela Chopra stated their families had arranged their marriage. When the duo had their first meeting, Pamela said that it was very awkward, and both of them were unimpressed with each other. But after missing his flight, the director stayed one more day in Delhi, and another meeting was arranged between him and Pamela. Talking about their successful second meet, she had stated: 

"This time, it went very well. I saw a completely different side of Yash. He was wearing a lungi and kurta, sitting on the floor and playing a chamach on the dholki and Romesh's (family friend) sister was playing the dholak and they were singing. It was great fun. We were relaxed because we thought that this match won't happen. When you meet someone for matrimony, there is a certain tension. This time, there was no tension because we had both decided we were not going to go ahead with the wedding. Strangely enough, I started liking him and he reciprocated. He went to Mumbai and told his family 'Ghanti baj gayi”.

Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra married in 1970 

Yash Chopra tied the knot with Pamela Chopra in 1970. The pair married in a traditional Punjabi wedding that was attended by some of the biggest stars of Bollywood. As seen in their wedding video, Yash Chopra wore a white and cream-toned sherwani, while Pamela looked gorgeous, dressed in red from head to toe. She wore a red saree with sequins work and donned a traditional red wedding veil with a golden zari border. 

Many people commented in the video that the wedding looked as if it was a scene from a Yash Raj film. The wedding tape was shared by the Instagram influencer Anushka Sharma, aka 'theiconicarchives'. The influencer had penned down while posting the video that she was amazed by the clear and perfect quality of the video, considering it was in 1970. Another netizen wrote that Yash Chopra had used shots from his own wedding video in many of his movies. This claim has not been verified through any official statements. 

Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra's wedding was attended by Shashi Kapoor, Mumtaz and more

In Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra's wedding video, many familiar and popular faces were spotted. B.R. Chopra of Mahabharat fame and Yash's older brother, was seen sitting near him during the wedding. There were also glimpses of actor, Shashi Kapoor, who had worked with the director many times and was his close friend as well. Meanwhile, actress, Simi Garewal was seen bringing in the shy bride to the mandap. Pamela and Simi were also cousins. Veteran Bollywood actress, Mumtaz was also spotted in the video, looking gorgeous in her traditional look. Interestingly, there were many rumours surrounding an alleged affair between Yash Chopra and the actress before his marriage. 

Pamela Chopra passed away 11 years after Yash Chopra's death 

This beautiful love story between Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra came to an end when the director passed away at the age of 80 in 2012. Eleven years later, Pamela also passed away as a result of age-related issues. With a marriage that spanned across four decades, the couple withstood all the challenges thrown at them by Yash Chopra's busy and demanding profession and kept the age-old promise of 'till death do us part'.
