Alexi Ashe was born on April 1, 1983, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Tom and Joan Ashe. She has a sister named Ariel. Alexi completed her schooling at Albuquerque Academy and graduated in 2002. She later attended Occidental College in LA, California and earned a degree in political science in 2006. In 2011, she completed her law degree at Southwestern Law School. Alexi is a human rights attorney who has dedicated herself to helping survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and gender-based crimes.

From 2013 to 2018, she served as an assistant district attorney in Brooklyn, focusing on special victims and human trafficking cases. According to her LinkedIn profile, she currently works at Sanctuary for Families as the Director of Anti-Trafficking Policy. She is also a board member of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women. Speaking about her work, Seth Meyers once told YourTango that his wife was dealing with a much darker world than he was. In his words:

"Ashe is dealing in a far darker world than me. She manages to come home and still be bright-eyed and positive. So I have to do the same."

The couple welcomed their first child, a son, Ashe Olson, in March 2016. The duo named their first son, combining Alexi’s maiden name and Seth’s mother’s maiden name. The couple welcomed their second son, Axel Strahl, in 2018. It was a dramatic entry for the baby boy as he was born in the lobby of Alexi and Seth’s apartment. Alex’s middle name Strahl was the last name of Alexi’s grandparents, who were Holocaust survivors. In September 2021, the duo welcomed their daughter, Adelaide Ruth.
