Nina Dobrev, a.k.a Nikolina Kamenova Dobreva, was born January 9, 1989, in Sofia, Bulgaria. She moved to Canada with her family at the age of two and grew up in Toronto. She began acting at a young age and learnt ballet, jazz, and rhythmic gymnastics. Nina's first break came with the teen drama, Degrassi: The Next Generation, in 2006, where she played 'Mia Jones'. However, it was her role as 'Elena Gilbert' and later, the fierce 'Katherine Pierce' on The Vampire Diaries that made her popular across countries. 

The success on the small screen opened the doors of Hollywood for her. Nina appeared in well-known projects like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Let's Be Cops, The Final Girls and more. Especially her film, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, became a massive commercial success. In recent years, she was seen in romantic comedies, including Then Came You, Netflix's Love Hard, while also taking on behind-the-scenes roles as a producer. 

Nina Dobrev's personal life has always intrigued fans

Just like her professional life, Nina Dobrev's personal life and relationships made headlines. She famously dated her Vampire Diaries co-star, Ian Somerhalder, from 2010 to 2013. However, speculation about the split arose when the actress appeared at the Eternity premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival without her engagement ring. Moreover, eagle-eyed fans noticed that she unpinned her Instagram engagement announcement, further fueling breakup rumours.
