After the tragic killing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, who was shot dead by an ICE agent in the area on January 7, 2026, thousands of citizens gathered in Minneapolis to march against her killing, demanding accountability. 

The controversial rally, titled March Against Minnesota Fraud, which took place near City Hall, has reignited national attention on Jake Lang, the 29-year-old far-right influencer from Sullivan County, New York, who made waves during the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capital riot.

Arranging the rally there has alarmed local leaders; ahead of the event, community coalitions issued warnings, claiming that it could provoke fear and unrest. 

Who is Jake Lang?

Jake Lang, short for Edward Jacob Lang, is best known for his role in the January 6 Capitol Riot. A native of Narrowsburg, Sullivan County, New York, he gained significant attention after the 2021 attack, for which he was charged with 11 criminal offences, including civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, and assaulting law enforcement officers.

Despite the severity of his charges, the influencer never went to trial and instead spent nearly four years in pretrial detention. In 2025, President Donald Trump pardoned him along with other January 6 defendants. Since his release from prison, Lang has often referred to himself as a "political prisoner" to his hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, notably on platforms like Instagram and X.

Popularly described as a "far-right influencer", Lang is currently running for U.S. Senate in Florida, and the main focus of his campaign lies on the country's immigration policies, election fraud claims, and active support for Trump's MAGA agenda. The influencer often hosts podcasts centred on the January 6 riot, using them to mobilise supporters. He is largely criticised for allegedly thriving on provocating gthe masses. However, for his supporters, he is a symbol of resistance against federal authorities. 

Who is Jake Lang's fiancée, Rachel Myers?

In his personal life, Jake Lang has fallen for a woman who shares his views and passion. According to what is known, his new fiancée, Rachel Myers, was also involved in the January 6 Capitol riot. She was convicted on charges related to January 6 and later released on probation. The influencer has publicly described their relationship as a “January 6 love story."

According to Lang, he and Myers met while he was in federal custody, and she listened to him speak during online discussions and media appearances he participated in from prison. Over time, she became Lang's confidante, someone he trusted deeply. Eventually, after his release from prison, the pair got engaged in the latter half of 2025.

While Rachel keeps a relatively low public profile, Lang frequently references her as a source of support as he transitions from pretrial detention into political activism and his current U.S. Senate run. The Minneapolis rally of Saturday saw hundreds of anti-ICE demonstrators who overwhelmed Jake Lang's relatively small group of supporters. While no serious injuries were officially confirmed, Lang later claimed on social media that he was stabbed during the chaos.
