Recently, a professional ballroom dancer had a narrow escape from a tragedy. A while ago, Charlotte shared a heart-wrenching post on her Instagram handle. On March 22, 2026, a deadly collision between an Air Canada jet and a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport in New York City shocked the entire world.

Charlotte, the former Dancing with the Stars pro, was among the many who boarded the Air Canada 8646 jet on that awful day. In her note, Charlotte mentioned that she owes her life to two brave souls, Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther, who sacrificed their lives in the crash. According to a report by the BBC, the tragic incident claimed the lives of both pilots and injured over 41 people. Charlotte Jorgensen was born on November 30, 1971, in Denmark. She holds a Professional Danish Dancers' Association teaching degree. Charlotte is an Honours Graduate with a teaching and adjudicating license from the World Dance Council. She is a former World, British Open, and European Professional Standard finalist as well as a World Amateur and Blackpool Professional Rising Star champion.

During her competitive career, Charlotte was widely recognised as the best female Standard dancer in the world. Charlotte gained international recognition with the show, Dancing with the Stars, Season 1. She was one of the pros in the hit show. She was placed second, along with celebrity, John O’Hurley. Currently, Charlotte is an official spokesperson for Dance 4 Health and a sought-after instructor. She is also a dance coach at the NY American Smooth Camp #11.

On March 30, 2026, Charlotte Jorgensen took to her Instagram handle and penned a heart-wrenching note. Recalling the traumatic night, Charlotte shared that among the many, she also boarded the Air Canada 8646 jet on the night of March 22, 2026. She paid a heartfelt tribute to the pilots who sacrificed their lives in that awful incident. She wrote:

"A week ago tonight, after a fabulous weekend in Montreal, I boarded Air Canada 8646 bound for La Guardia, NYC. By now, probably most of you have heard of the collision that happened with a firetruck on the runway. I owe my life to two brave souls, Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther - they made the ultimate sacrifice so that we all could live…. I am indebted to them, and my thoughts are with their families."

In the same note, Charlotte mentioned how deeply the tragedy affected her. Charlotte shared that she is struggling 'physically', 'mentally' and 'emotionally' after surviving the shocking incident. The former Dancing with the Stars pro added that she is now at home and will take time to heal. She also expressed her gratitude for the people who were worried about her. She wrote:

"On the night I felt nothing as adrenaline was rushing through my body but the days after has been tough - physically, mentally and emotionally. I am at home now, and Nelson and Vivianna are taking good care of me. I will be taking time to heal. I am grateful for all the love I have received and I send you all an extra warm hug. Thank you to my @dancingwiththestars family for your care and concern."

Lisa O’ Hurley, the wife of John O’Hurley, commented on Charlotte’s post. The comment was a bit personal as Lisa mentioned that her son, Will, is now a pilot, and the LaGuardia Airport plane crash shocked her more. Lisa’s comment can be read as:

"Charlotte, I’m so happy you are safe, and what a heartfelt gesture of gratitude from someone actually there. As Will is now a pilot that was very hard to see. These two men are heroes."
