Who Is Bijou Phillips? Danny Masterson's Wife Who Changed Daughter's Surname After He Went To Prison

Bijou Phillips, in a dramatic move, has filed to remove her estranged husband, Danny Masterson's surname from their 11-year-old daughter's name. According to TMZ, Phillips has requested that their daughter's name be changed from Fianna Francis Masterson to Fianna Francis Phillips. The decision comes after Danny was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for rape convictions in September 2023. Amid the rising tension between the duo, here is everything to know about Bijou Phillips. 

Who is Bijou Phillips?

Bijou Mary Phillips is an American model, socialite, and former actress and singer. She is the daughter of musicians John Phillips and Geneviève Waïte. Bijou began her career in modelling before moving into acting and music, and released her debut album, I'd Rather Eat Glass, in 1999. Over the years, she appeared in several films, including Almost Famous, Bully, The Door in the Floor, and Hostel: Part II. Between 2010 to 2013, she played the role of 'Lucy Carlyle' in the television series, Raising Hope. It also co-starred her future husband, Danny Masterson.

Before her marriage to Danny Masterson, Bijou Phillips was linked to Sean Lennon in the mid-2000s. Several news reports claimed that he was reportedly the inspiration behind his 2006 album Friendly Fire. She has faced multiple ups and downs in both her professional and personal lives over the years. According to People, Bijou also suffered from a serious kidney condition that required a transplant in 2017, 

Bijou Phillips's marriage and difficult divorce with Danny Masterson 

Bijou Phillips began dating Danny Masterson in 2004, and after nearly 4 years, they got engaged. They starred together in a show and tied the knot in October 2011 in Ireland, and soon welcomed their daughter, Fianna Francis, on February 14, 2014. They bonded on the mutual faith in Scientology, and Bijou was always an unconditionally supportive partner. However, the duo's married life soon turned into a nightmare. The family came under the spotlight when Danny Masterson was accused and proven guilty of r*pe charges. But Bijou never left his side. 

In fact, during his trial for multiple assault charges for 2003 incidents, she remained by his side and they often clicked, holding hands. According to The Daily Mail, she once wrote a letter to the judge describing him as a 'life-saving partner and amazing father'. But her stance changed after the charges were proven and he was sentenced to prison in September 2023. Sources told the Daily Mail that Bijou's friends and family encouraged her to separate from Danny to show their daughter the importance of accountability. Consequently, she filed for a divorce in September 2023. Later, Page Six reportedly spotted her with new partner, Jamie Mazur, in June 2024.
