Charlie Sheen's Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, released on September 10, 2025, chronicles the actor's volatile life. Through candid interviews, the film addresses his rise to stardom, notorious public scandals, battles with addiction, and recent sobriety. His former wives, Denise Richards, 54, and Brooke Mueller, 48, have also shared some accounts of their interactions with Charlie. The ladies have been brutally honest in their remarks, revealing some unknown facts about their ex-husband.
Denise Richards stated that the overwhelming pressure from the success of Two and a Half Men changed Charlie Sheen as a person. It led him to not only 'sabotaging the success', but also 'sabotaging our family'. She recounted that, at that time, Charlie's substance abuse led to a sudden and 'irrational anger' burst. She mentioned trying to get him out of the situation, but people around him didn't let him do the right thing. She said that she had a really 'tragic' experience back then, but had to humour her way through it. Her exact words were:
"He got very aggressive. What I went through and what he put me through, I don't know how I am here. The only way through tragedy, which is what I was going through, was having a f***ing sense of humour about it because it was so bad."
Before their bitter phase of marriage, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen spent a happy life together. Denise shared fond memories of her first date with Charlie, in aka Charlie Sheen. She recalled how 'shy' he was when the duo had an indoor baseball match watch party as their first official date. Though it wasn't anything fancy, Denise still remembers the warmth and happiness she felt back then. She also shared the little 'romantic' things they did back then, including microwaving plastic meals.
After things went south with Denise, Charlie Sheen found love for the third time in Brooke Mueller. Their relationship, however, was marred by its own set of challenges. Brooke was fighting addiction, and Charlie was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse towards her. In the Netflix documentary, Brooke said that during the height of their tumultuous relationship, she quickly recanted her story of domestic abuse to protect him. Another reason for the same was her being high on drugs. She said:
"I had to recant my [domestic abuse] story. If I didn't, he could have gotten into a lot of trouble. Not only is he my husband, but I was so incredibly screwed up on serious drugs for a very long time. Once I sobered up. I can't even recall. I saw myself as psychotic."
Brooke also spoke about Charlie's supportive actions toward her during her darkest struggles with addiction. She said that it was unfair to point out only the bad sides of Charlie and judge him based on that. She also noted that her ex-husband 'made amends over and over' to her. She took into account his history of substance abuse and felt that some of his past mistakes could be overlooked due to that. Expressing her gratitude for Sheen's support during her struggles, she said:

"Charlie really stepped up when my stuff was going dark. It was really dark. He had all the reasons not to be there for me."
Regarding their current dynamics, Brooke explained that her relationship with Charlie has evolved, and he has become a responsible protector for their twin sons, Bob and Max. The documentary also features interviews with Bob, who has recently moved in with his father. Bob explained that he has a 'deeper connection' with Charlie and that he is happy with his mother being sober.
