'War 2' Ending Explained, Is Jr NTR A Friend Or An Enemy Of Hrithik Roshan A.K.A 'Kabir'?

War 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of 2025. The film is a sequel to the 2019 film, War. For the unversed, the film hit the big screens on August 14, 2025. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani. However, as soon as the film was released, the audience was eagerly waiting to know the ending of the action thriller film. But before diving deep in to know what happened at the end of War 2, let’s meet the cast of the film.

War 2 featured Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani in lead roles. The film also starred Ashutosh Rana, Anil Kapoor and Varun Badola. Hrithik reprised his role as 'Major Kabir Dhaliwal', Jr. NTR joined as 'Major Vikram Chelapathi' a.k.a 'Raghu', Kiara Advani portrayed the role of Wing Commander, 'Kavya Luthra', and Ashutosh Rana appeared as Colonel 'Karan Luthra'. Anil Kapoor appeared in the role of 'Vikrant Kaul', Chief of RAW. Varun played the role of 'Vilasrao Sarang', a minister.

'Kabir' plays a double game, whose only mission is to protect India

'Kabir', who once served as a top RAW agent, has now turned into a mercenary who works under a dangerous syndicate called Kali. 'Kabir' is very skilled with weapons and never misses any target. However, there has been an underlying truth behind 'Kabir' joining the criminal group. 'Kabir' played a double game, who seemed like a supporter of 'Kali' on the surface level, but deep inside, his only mission is to protect his country, India.

A celebration that turns into a tragic moment

Meanwhile, Wing Commander, 'Kavya' was honoured for her contribution as a lead in an evacuation mission. While the ceremony was held, 'Kavya's' father, Colonel 'Karan Luthra', got a call, which was nothing but a trap for him, led by 'Kali'. They order 'Kabir' to shoot 'Karan', and in order to prove his loyalty to the criminal group, he had to kill 'Kavya's' father. Soon, 'Vikrant Kaul' joined as the new RAW chief and appointed 'Vikram' with the mission to finish off 'Kali'.

'Kabir' and 'Vikram' joins hands to finish off 'Kali'

'Kabir' and 'Vikram' crossed paths, and the former revealed his secret agenda to the latter. The duo joined hands in order to finish off 'Kali'. But little did Kabir know that 'Vikram' was his childhood friend, 'Raghu'. 'Vikram' also addressed 'Kabir' as "partner," winning his trust.

As the story progressed, it was revealed that 'Vikram' was actually working for 'Kali'. He proved his alliance with 'Kali' by killing a minister’s family. In fact, during a mission, he pushed 'Kabir' out of a plane. His cryptic gesture reminded 'Kabir' of his childhood friend Raghu. The movie goes into a flashback when 'Kabir' and Raghu were kids. When the two were children, they were arrested for theft and put into custody. There, the duo met 'Karan Luthra'. He chose 'Kabir' for military training but rejected Raghu, for his nature. This made Raghu resentful. 'Kabir' went on to become a celebrated RAW agent under 'Karan's' guidance, while Raghu grew angry. Their close friendship fell apart because of jealousy and rejection.

What happens at the end of War 2?

'Kavya' once proposed to 'Kabir', but he turned her down to pursue his career in RAW. In the climax, while 'Kavya' and 'Vikrant Kaul' stop 'Kali' from killing the Prime Minister, 'Kabir' and 'Raghu' fight an intense, emotional battle. The two had a clash over betrayal, loyalty, and their broken brotherhood. 'Vilasrao Sarang' was also part of 'Kali', and wanted to become the Prime Minister. While the film ended with 'Kabir’s' survival, 'Vikram's' existence was left as a mystery.
