Vikrant Massey Shares Spending Rs. 60,000 On Clothes, His Wife Told Him, 'That's Our Month Expense'

Vikant Massey is all set for his next offering, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, where he is sharing screenspace with Shanaya Malhotra, who will make her Bollywood debut with the movie. The actor recently remembered the initial days of his career when he was switching from TV to movies. He used to make Rs. 35 lakh monthly from his TV work, but he gave it up as he wanted to do Bollywood movies. There was a time when the actor used to wear clothes worth Rs. 60,000, which stunned his wife, then girlfriend, Sheetal Thakur, as the amount was their monthly expense.

Vikrant sat down for an interview with Rhea Chakraborty for her podcast. He shared that there was a time when he wanted to look like his contemporary stars, so just to get papped, he used to wear designer clothes at parties so that he would be noticed. The actor used to spend Rs. 60,000 just on a single pair of clothes that stunned Sheetal. Vikrant shared:

"Not that I didn’t try, I did try it for a good 4-5 months. I started attending parties, I started renting out clothes, which are so expensive. It costs so much money to wear those clothes just once. My wife, who was my girlfriend then, would be like, ‘Why? Rs 50,000-Rs 60,000 a day, per event? You are wearing a designer’s costume for 4-5 hours. That’s our expense for an entire month."

Vikrant Massey used to be conscious of wearing designer clothes

Vikrant shared that he wanted to get noticed, so he had opted for the path to wear clothes that exceeded his budget. He shared that despite trying the hack to wear pricey clothes, he was not at all comfortable and did not feel complete. He was always conscious of not spoiling the clothes as he had to give them back to the designer. Vikrant realised that to match the style of the elite was not his type, and hence he found his way. When the actor realised that he was unable to be his complete self, he took a stand for himself and spoke to people. The actor added:

"Like going to these parties, wearing those ultra expensive clothes, I was so conscious. Like the whole time, I would be like, ‘I hope this doesn’t get dirty because I have to return these clothes, they belong to a big designer’. 

When Vikrant Massey shared, someone told him he would only get side roles in Bollywood

Vikrant, earlier in an interview with Times Network’s IEC 2024, shared that TV stars were underestimated in the Hindi film industry. He recollected how someone had once told him that he was meant to get side roles like 'hero's bestie' in the movies. Vikrant, speaking on how he changed from TV to Bollywood, shared:

"It doesn’t matter where you come from, how much money you have, or if you can speak English. Only one thing matters and that is you do your job well which you have been hired to do. I am a living example of that. I have worked in films for 10 years and when I first started working in television."
