Vijay Sethupathi Refused To Romance Krithi Shetty Onscreen, Said, 'I Consider Her As My Daughter...'

One of the most prolific actors in South Indian cinema, Vijay Sethupathi, needs no introduction. The actor has often set the bar high with his intense acting prowess. He made his acting debut in 2010 with the film, Thenmerku Paruvakaatru. However, he rose to fame with films like Sundarapandian, Iraivi, Vikram Vedha, 96, Petta, Master, Jawan and Maharaja.

Talking about Vijay Sethupathi’s personal life, the actor married his girlfriend, Jessy and the couple has two kids, Surya and Shreeja. Why did Vijay Sethupathi refuse to romance Krithi Shetty onscreen?

It so happened that Krithi Shetty made her acting debut with the film, Uppena, wherein she played the role of Vijay Sethupathi's daughter. During the promotions of his action film, Laabam, Vijay revealed that the makers of the film wanted to pair him with Krithi, but Vijay was not comfortable with the idea as she played his daughter in her debut film. He told the makers:

“I consider her as my daughter and I can never romance her onscreen."

In a conversation with News Buzz, Vijay revealed that the makers of Laabam initially zeroed in on casting Krithi, but Vijay wasn’t comfortable about it as he played the role of her father in their previous film. After Vijay refused Krithi, Shruti Haasan was roped in opposite him. Speaking about the same, he said:

"In Uppena, Krithi Shetty played my daughter. Incidentally, the makers of Laabam were contemplating the idea of roping in Krithi Shetty for the female lead role to act alongside me. But I immediately turned down their advancements. How can I romance an actress who is playing my daughter in a film that is also shot simultaneously? This would have been such an awkward experience. I rejected the prospect of Krithi Shetty playing my love interest in Laabam."

Before working in movies, Vijay Sethupathi worked as an accountant in Dubai for many years. It was the same phase when he met his wife, Jessy Sethupathi, and after working together for some years, they started dating each other. The lovebirds got married in 2003 and are now blessed with two kids, Surya Sethupati and Shreeja Sethupati.
