Unni Mukundan Shares Screengrab Of Chat With Tovino Thomas, Amid Rumours Of Rift And Alleged Assault

Malayalam actor, Unni Mukundan landed himself in some serious trouble after his former assistant, Vipin Kumar, accused him of assault. As the news spread like wildfire online, Unni finally reacted to the complaint that was filed against him for physically assaulting his former assistant within the premises of his apartment complex and using abusive language. The manager claimed that the assault happened after he praised Tovino Thomas. However, Unni has now denied all claims of bad blood with a screenshot of his conversation with Tovino.

After the news of the assault came out, fans wondered if things were really not going well between Unni Mukundan and Tovino Thomas. However, Unni has finally put those rumours to rest and shared a screengrab, proving there is no bad blood between the two. Unni shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with Tovino on Instagram, which showed that Tovino had shared a 10-second voice note, to which Unni reacted with a sticker GIF.

The rest of the chat also featured Unni Mukundan and Tovino Thomas engaging with each other by sending Mohanlal and Mammootty stickers. While Tovino has not reacted to the issue publicly, the screengrab has clarified a lot for many worried fans. For the unversed, Tovino is currently busy promoting his latest release, Narivetta, on social media. Unni and Tovino have known each other for years now and have been supportive of each other's work.

Unni Mukundan denied assaulting his former assistant, Vipin Kumar

The news broke out early on the morning of May 27, 2025, and the fans were on the lookout for what Unni Mukundan had to say for himself. Now the actor has opened up to the accusations in a conversation with Manorma Online and denied all allegations of assault made against him by Vipin. He also denied having any bad blood over Tovino Thomas. However, Unni admitted that he visited Vipin's flat in Kochi with a mutual friend, Vishnu Unnithan, and claimed their conversation took place in a CCTV-monitored area. 

"Yes, I removed and broke his sunglasses, but I did not engage in any act that could be called physical assault. It is propaganda meant to harm me and Tovino Thomas. I personally called Tovino and explained the situation. We've been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond. No false rumour can destroy that friendship."

Unni Mukundan further claimed that he was shocked and saddened by how someone like Vipin Kumar, whom he has known for years, would turn against him. Unni added that he had asked Vipin to write an apology and return the passwords to his accounts. However, Vipin started blackmailing him and stealing credit during the promotion of his 2024 film, Marco. Unni had alleged that numerous complaints against Vipin have been filed in the film industry, including a report by a female actor to the ICC.

What happened between Vipin Kumar and Unni Mukundan?

For the unversed, the Unni Kukundan's former manager, Vipin Kumar, alleged that Unni assaulted him after he was irked by his praise for Tovino Thomas' Narivetta, which was one of the reasons behind the assault. In a video posted by Asianet News on their YouTube channel, Vipin can be heard telling the media that the actor even used abusive language with him. He added that Unni has been extremely frustrated due to the lack of good projects since Marco and the failure of his last film, Get-Set Baby.
