Unni Mukundan Denies Assaulting Ex-PR, Calls It A 'Propaganda' To Harm His Friendship With Tovino

Malayalam actor, Unni Mukundan landed himself in some serious trouble after his former assistant, Vipin Kumar, accused him of assault. As the news spread like wildfire online, Unni finally reacted to the complaint that was filed against him for physically assaulting his former assistant within the premises of his apartment complex and using abusive language. Now, the actor has opened up about the same and has called it propaganda against him.

The news broke out early on the morning of May 27, 2025, and the fans were on the lookout for what Unni Mukundan had to say for himself. Now the actor has opened up to the accusations in a conversation with Manorma Online and denied all allegations of assault made against him by Vipin. He also denied having any bad blood over Tovino Thomas. However, Unni admitted that he visited Vipin's flat in Kochi with a mutual friend, Vishnu Unnithan, and claimed their conversation took place in a CCTV-monitored area. 

"Yes, I removed and broke his sunglasses, but I did not engage in any act that could be called physical assault. It is propaganda meant to harm me and Tovino Thomas. I personally called Tovino and explained the situation. We've been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond. No false rumour can destroy that friendship."

Unni Mukundan further claimed that he was shocked and saddened by how someone like Vipin Kumar, whom he has known for years, would turn against him. Unni added that he had asked Vipin to write an apology and return the passwords to his accounts. However, Vipin started blackmailing him and stealing credit during the promotion of his 2024 film, Marco. Unni had alleged that numerous complaints against Vipin have been filed in the film industry, including a report by a female actor to the ICC.

The complainant, Vipin Kumar, claimed that he had worked for Unni Mukundan for six years, and the actor came to his apartment complex and demanded that he come down. He further alleged that when he met the actor in the parking lot, he assaulted him. In a video posted by Asianet News on their YouTube channel, Vipin can be heard telling the media that the actor even used abusive language with him. He added that Unni has been extremely frustrated due to the lack of good projects since Marco and the failure of his last film, Get-Set Baby.

While Vipin also made claims that Sree Gokulam Movies had backed out of their agreement to produce Unni's directorial debut, the announcement post is still available on the production company's official Instagram handle, casting doubt on his claim. However, the matter is still under investigation. Vipin also alleged that Unni was irked by his praise for Tovino Thomas' Narivetta, which was one of the reasons behind the assault. Nonetheless, Tovino is yet to react to the incident. A part of Vipin's statement read:

"Also, although Sree Gokulam Movies had initially agreed to produce Unni's directorial debut, they later opted out. All of this has contributed to his growing frustration. He often takes out his frustrations on those around him, which is why many people who once worked with him are no longer associated with Unni. How long can I endure all this?"
