Trisha Krishnan And Vijay Didn't Work Together For 15 Years Despite Being A Popular Pair, Here's Why

Trisha Krishnan is one of the most talented actresses in the South Indian film industry. One of the highest-paid actresses, Trisha, made her acting debut in 2002 with the film Mounam Pesiyadhe. She rose to fame with films like Saamy, Ghilli, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, '96, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Ponniyin Selvan: I and Ponniyin Selvan: II, among many others.

Apart from Trisha’s professional life, her personal life has always garnered a lot of attention. She has been linked with some of the leading heroes in the South Indian film industry. One of the prominent actors with whom she was constantly linked is Thalapathy Vijay. Trisha and Vijay have been friends for a long time, and their dating rumours have been ruling the headlines for more than two decades.

Hailed for their on-screen chemistry, Vijay and Trisha first worked together in 2004 in the film, Ghilli. The film became a blockbuster hit, and the two soon became the audience’s favourite pair. Then, they went on to work together in films like Aathi, Thirupachi, and Kuruvi. However, after the 2008 film, Kuruvi, Trisha and Vijay didn’t work together for 15 long years.

Ever since their first film together, there have been rumours that Vijay and Trisha are head-over-heels in love with one another. As per rumours, Vijay was asked by his family not to work with Trisha, pertaining to the rumours of their affair. After 15 long years, the duo shared the screen space again in the film, Leo.

Trisha Krishnan’s birthday wish for Thalapathy Vijay ignited their dating rumours

For the last few months, Trisha and Vijay’s dating rumours have gained a lot of attention. On June 22, 2025, Vijay turned a year older, and Trisha had the cutest wish for him. Taking to her X (Twitter), Trisha Krishnan shared a photo with Vijay. In the photo, Vijay was seen adoring a little furbaby, while Trisha was looking at them. Along with the picture, she wrote, “Happy Birthday bestest”, followed by an evil-eye and hug emoticons.

Trisha Krishnan gave hints about dating Thalapathy Vijay

Trisha Krishnan often shares pictures with Thalapathy Vijay, and their fans have noted a pattern in her posts. All the posts of Trisha featuring Vijay have emotions of the heart, infinity, and the evil eye. In another picture shared by Trisha, fans noticed a glimpse of Vijay’s shoes. 

Not just this, Trisha and Vijay also travelled together to Goa for actress, Keerthy Suresh’s wedding with Antony Thattil in 2024. Their pictures from a private airport went viral, from where they took a private jet to attend the wedding.

When Trisha Krishnan called off her engagement

In 2015, Trisha Krishnan got engaged to a Chennai-based businessman, Varun Manian. After a few months, Trisha called off her engagement with Varun and her entire fanbase was shocked. According to multiple reports, Varun's father was against his son's decision to marry Trisha, as he had wanted someone from a similar background to enter their family. 

During the promotions of one of her films, Trisha revealed the reason behind her broken engagement and revealed the reason behind the same. Elaborating on the same, the actress shared:

“That's why my wedding was called off. The person I was supposed to marry asked me to stop acting. Instead of films, I chose to put a full stop to my engagement."
