'Thudarum' OTT Release: When And Where To Watch Mohanlal's Record-Breaking Blockbuster Film

Thudarum is a Malayalam crime thriller directed by Tharun Moorthy. The film stars Mohanlal and Shobana, alongside Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, Krishna Prabha in supporting roles. Released on April 25, 2025, the film has created noise across the globe with its entertainment-packed content and box office numbers and now is all prepared to delight the audience in the comfort of their own homes.

Thudarum OTT release

Thudarum has been a massive hit on the big screen, and fans are thrilled to see the film once again, in the comfort of their own homes. The film was initially released on April 25, 2025, and now is all set for its OTT debut. The film was not just praised by the audience and the critics but also did exceptionally well at the box office, which doubled the joy for the star, Mohanlal, as it was his second film this year to do exceptionally well.

Thudarum will follow the lead of Mohanlal's L2: Empuran, which will also be released on the OTT streaming platform, JioHotstar. For the unversed, previously known as Disney Hotstar, the streaming platform was rebranded after their collaboration with Jio. Coming back to Thudarum, the film will exclusively stream online from May 30, 2025, onwards. It will be available in a spectrum of languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. The digital streaming platform took to X to officially announce the news of its online debut. Their post could be quoted as saying:

"Thudarum will be streaming from 30 May only on JioHotstar."

Thudarum box-office performance 

Thudarum has brought double the happiness for Mohanlal, as the film marked his second big hit of the year after L2: Empuraan. The film witnessed a never-before-seen trend at the box office and broke several records. Thundarum opened up with a mega sale of Rs. 5 crore and emerged as the first ever Malayalam movie to earn over Rs. 100 crore in Kerala. Thudarum's Kerala collection stands at a jaw-dropping Rs. 116 crore after one month of its run. However, the film has done equally exceptional work on the global stage. The film collected Rs. 232.25 crore and is now only behind Manjummel Boys, which earned Rs. 242 crore and L2: Empuraan, reigning on number one with Rs. 265 crore.

Mohanlal's Thudarum's plot

Thudarum follows the story of 'Shanmugham', which was essayed by Mohanlal and affectionately called 'Benz' due to his cherished black Ambassador Mark 1 car. The man is a former film stunt assistant turned taxi driver and leads an extremely peaceful life in the hill town of Pathanamthitta. However, his world is turned upside down when his car becomes a prime element in a police investigation, leading him into a gripping tale of justice and resilience. Mohanlal's spectacular acting skills have once again captured the audience, and his pairing with Shobana is absolute magic.
