'The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon' Season 3 Episode 1 Review: Meet 'Julian'...Too Late, He Is Dead Now

So far, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 is serving the same old story in a brand new casing. Well, the much-loved show, The Walking Dead is back with another season, and the fans are not surprised so far. Nonetheless, as the journey begins, they are further assured that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is still following its unspoken rules, which are: If a new character is introduced that you like, he or she will soon be dead and, if a new character is introduced that you don't like, they will probably be around for a good long time.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3, brings back the cliches

Other rules have been followed to the letter by the AMC's zombie franchise, and that is, if there are zombies in any significant number, our veteran heroes will be taken aback by the 'random' appearance, despite their years of experience (literally). Even though our beloved leads have been dealing with the apocalypse for ages, they will be overtaken by it even after the said zombie is very slow and far away. Sometimes it will occur after one of these rather noisy undead creatures sneaks up on our hero.

So keeping the rules in mind, it was no surprise that when The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Episode 1 introduced 'Julian Chamberlain', who by the way had no relation to Neville, he was going to die soon. Essayed by Stephen Merchant, the character was not only incredibly likeable but also charming and a bit eccentric. However, it's The Walking Dead, and before the viewers could properly meet 'Julian', he was dead. 

'Carol' doesn't know that the very silent 'Julian' is dead

'Julian' knows he is now a zombie; the audience knows 'Julian' is now a zombie, but 'Carol' doesn't know why 'Julian' is standing on the beach in silence. Well, she soon finds that out as she approaches 'Julian', who doesn't respond at all, but despite her years of experience, she approaches him instead of running away. The aftermath? 'Julian' turns snarling, and 'Carol' panics.

'Carol' finds herself suddenly fighting for her life. However, as she tries to get away from 'Julian', she trips on the sand. Dead 'Julian' topples over her, slavering jaws snapping. However, she is luckily saved by 'Daryl', because another rule of The Walking Dead is that 'heroes won't die no matter what hell is unleashed on them'. SO, what's the next thing that the duo decides on? They were planning to take 'Julian's' sailboat across the Atlantic.

However, not yet! As there is more to uncover, as 'Julian', who was not much of a sailor, is dead, 'Daryl' and 'Carol' don't know the first thing about sailing, and everyone else in London is apparently dead. So, as the two heroes plan their extremely risky voyage to the West, let's see if the remaining episodes of the season are actually able to surprise the viewers, or will The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon stick to the rules?
