The Taj Story was released on October 31, 2025, and within a few hours of its release, a lot of users took to their X (formerly Twitter) handle to share their thoughts on the courtroom drama. A lot of users appreciated the film, its thought and the strong screen presence of actors. One user commented, "Watched the premiere of #TheTajStory – Brilliant writing by @TusharAmrish, starring @SirPareshRawal Rawal. This film is beyond mere entertainment — it reflects the doubts and heartlines of millions questioning the sanitized history we’ve been taught."

A user shared, "Positive response pouring in for #TheTajStory- Audiences are calling the film unbelievable and the most important movie of the year." Another user shared, " A brave retelling that turns pain into power and truth into victory." A third user penned a long note to appreciate the narrative, impact and Paresh Rawal's acting. Even though, a lot of users appreciated the narrative and message behind Paresh Rawal’s film, there were a few users who took to their X handle and expressed their disappointment in the film. One user commented, "#TheTajStoryFirstReview 1.5/5 disastrous. It's not only a problematic Propaganda film, but also extremely Poor and Forceful in Acting & Direction." Another user wrote, "#TheTajStory is a sleep-inducing disaster! Director confused history with fiction & still failed. Script dull, acting lifeless, music torture. Even my remote wanted to escape halfway! Such films should come with a free pillow!" A third user shared, "This is not The Taj Story, it is The Fake Story."

 
The film, The Taj Story focuses on the questions and mysteries tied to the famous monument, including the 22 sealed rooms. The film follows 'Vishnu Das' (played by Paresh Rawal), a local tour guide at the Taj Mahal, who goes on a mission to challenge the origin of the monument. What begins as just a curiosity soon turns into an intense courtroom showdown, as he wants a DNA test to be done to prove whether the monument is a tomb or a temple.

Initially when the poster of the film, featuring a Shiv motif emerging from Taj Mahal's dome was released, it received a lot of backlash from viewers. Netizens and critics felt that the makers were trying to reignite issues between Hindu-Muslims. However, the makers had released an official statement, in which they had clarified that the film is based on historical facts and was not made to create any tensions.
