The Conjuring has been making headlines once again. After the hype around the fourth and final instalment of the film, Last Rites, fans were left disappointed by the stale farewell to the franchise. However, now it seems that one of the most popular elements of the series is available for grabs. Yes! We are talking about The Conjuring farmhouse that inspired Hollywood's most successful horror franchise of all time.
According to reports, the Burrillville, Rhode Island, property was once home to the Perron Family. However, their fresh countryside life was turned upside down by a demonic spirit. And now, the estate has been listed for auction at a mortgagee's foreclosure auction on the spookiest night of the year, Halloween, October 31, 2025.
The house that became infamous for its hauntings will be up for sale. The news has come as a big surprise for not just the fans, but also companies interested in turning the house into a tourist attraction. According to JJManning Auctioneers, the farmhouse will attract supernatural fans, tourism companies, and other bidders, who will place their bids at 11 am local time.
The Conjuring lore began with the Perron family. Their haunting tale earned over USD 300 million and gave a boost to the world's biggest horror franchise. The Conjuring franchise has grossed over USD 2.3 billion worldwide through its nine films, including sequels and spinoffs such as The Nun and Annabelle. The farmhouse, which was known as Richardson House, the Arnold Estate, Old Brook Farm and now as The Conjuring House, was built in 1736, on an 8.5-acre plot.
An otherwise beautiful property consists of 14 rooms. It features three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, multiple living areas, a library and apparently a demonic spirit (or not). The home shot to fame in 2013 with James Wan's The Conjuring, which dramatised the haunting and investigations conducted by real-life paranormal experts, Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens reportedly played a significant role in assisting the Perron family, who claimed to be tormented by spirits allegedly linked to a witch named Bathsheba Sherman.

According to news reports and public records, the farmhouse was last sold for USD 1.5 million in May 2022 to Boston-based real estate developer, Jacqueline Nunez. She transformed the property into a ghost tourism business, offering overnight stays and paranormal investigations. However, things took a turn when her ownership of the haunted house quickly became mired in controversy.
According to her reports, she landed in several disputes with employees, including a claim that she fired a manager after a ghost allegedly told her that the worker was stealing. A year later, Nunez was arrested on DUI charges and subsequently lost her entertainment license for the property. The house is being put up for sale allegedly due to a series of lawsuits over unpaid wages, financial strain, and a mortgage default, which has pushed the property into foreclosure.
