Tamzin Outhwaite Was 'Distressed' After Her Son Came Out As Transgender, Reveals, 'He's Thriving...'

Tamzin Outhwaite is a popular British actress, who is best-known for her charming screen presence in EastEnders. Amid her successful acting career, the actress recently opened up about children. For the unversed, Tamzin was married to Tom Ellis, with whom she shares two children, Flo and Marnie. A while ago, Tamzin opened up about her eldest son, who came out as transgender at a young age and described it as a long journey for the family.

Tamzin Outhwaite reveals she is not allowed to talk about her child, Flo

Recently, Tamzin Outhwaite had a conversation with The Mirror, during which she opened up about the long journey of her son, Flo, who came out as transgender. She mentioned that even though the journey was really long and difficult for them, they are currently in a good place. She said, "It’s been a long journey, a very long journey, but we’re in a great place now. I’m just happy that he’s happy, and that’s how I feel at the moment. He’s thriving, absolutely thriving."

Further, when Tamzin was questioned more about her son, Flo, the actress avoided them and stated that Flo had strictly told her not to talk about him. The actress revealed that Flo allowed her to speak on the Parenting Hell podcast, as it is his favourite. For the unversed, in 2025, Tazmin appeared on the podcast, where she spoke about her son. Tamzin was quoted as saying:

"I’m not allowed to talk about him [Flo]. I was only allowed to talk about him on Rob [Beckett] and Josh [Widdicombe]’s podcast, Parenting Hell, because it’s his favourite podcast. So I was allowed to talk about him with both of those two, but I’m not allowed to talk about him anywhere else, and I respect that decision."

When Tamzin Outhwaite revealed her first reaction after knowing about Flo

In 2025, Tamzin Outhwaite appeared on the Parenting Hell podcast, during which she shared her first reaction after knowing the truth about Flo. She explained that her first reaction was disbelief and described it as a distressing period. However, after going on a few family therapy sessions, she understood Flo’s side and is now his proud parent. In her words:

"Initially, I would say, don't be ridiculous. I didn't say don't be ridiculous, but my mind went, 'That's ludicrous'. Working back from that with talking, family therapy, therapy on Flo's side as well, talking with family and realising you're not alone. I think if you push back on a kid, they'll want to do the opposite of what their parent says."

Tamzin Outhwaite opens up about having a facelift surgery

Apart from Tamzin’s son, Flo, the EastEnders fame is also grabbing a lot of attention for her changed appearance since the past few months. Initially reports suggested that she had a facelift surgery; however, the actress recently came forward and confirmed that she has never had any surgery on her face. Explaining the reason behind her changed looks, she said:

"Can I just say, I’ve never had a facelift. And that was the whole point. I didn’t want a facelift and I didn’t want injectables. This is what I was told was the next best thing and it’s called NeoGen. I had eight to 10 treatments over the space of a year. So I call them intense facials rather than a non-surgical facelift."

Tamzin Outhwaite’s work front

Coming to Tamzin Outhwaite’s work front, the actress is still working in theatre and is all gearing up for a project, which is set to release in summer. However, she did not share much details as she is not allowed to. Further, when she was asked about her return in EastEnders, she indirectly shared that she won’t be returning.
