 A few days before sparking a conversation about her outfit, Sydney Sweeney had recently shut down criticisms of her looks. The Euphoria actress has been accused of leveraging the tag of a s*x symbol and pandering to the male gaze with her outfits and fashion statements. In an interview with Variety, Sydney addressed these comments against her and said:

"I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don't. So, when people think, 'Ah, she's a s*x symbol,' or 'She's leaning into that,' I'm like, 'No, I just feel good and I'm doing it for myself and I feel strong'."

Sydney also mentioned that she wants to inspire other women to 'flaunt what they got'. The actress is also of the opinion that people should not have to hide themselves or apologize for how they look. Sydney was quoted as saying:

"And I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn't have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room."
