The Pitt is considered one of the most beloved medical dramas of recent times. Season 1 of The Pitt first aired in January 2025, and it consisted of 15 episodes. It most recently reached season 2.
Before episode 13 of season 2 aired, viewers were a bit shocked to learn that one of the characters, 'Dr Samira Mohan', whose role was played by Supriya Ganesh, would now leave the show. Now, the decision of the makers to write off her character from the show has been discussed extensively on social media. Amid this, let's know how 'Dr Samira Mohan' will be written off from The Pitt, and who can be seen as a regular on the show.
Recently, Variety revealed that the decision to write off 'Dr Samira Mohan' from the show was simply a 'story-driven decision'. The senior resident won't be back for season 3, and viewers have been expressing how much she is going to be missed. To mention, a panic attack was caught by 'Dr Samira' in season 2 episode 10, and it was triggered by her contemplation about the next year.
'Dr Samira' was planning to leave the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre and be with her mom in New Jersey. In the premiere, we saw that she learned she was going to get married, sell her house, and go on a one-year cruise, which visibly shook her up. She doesn't have anything lined up in PTMC right now. Well, to understand how she will be written off, people will have to wait till the season 2 finale, where it can be explained why we won't be able to see 'Dr Samira' onscreen shift.
Or it could only be possible that season 3 will explain where ' Dr Samira ' is and whether or not she is settled in New Jersey, or whether she is off the shift that the season 3 will follow. To mention, each season of The Pitt follows a particular shift in a one-hour episode. However, with 'Dr Samira Mohan' exiting the show, the viewers were left a bit disappointed and have been discussing its effect and sharing assumptions about what might have happened.

As per a report by Variety, after the exit of 'Dr Samira Mohan', the character of the senior night shift resident 'Dr. Parker Ellis' will be promoted as a regular. For the unversed, the senior night shift resident, 'Dr. Parker Ellis' is played by Ayesha Harris, and she was seen in a total of four episodes out of 15, and also returned to season 2. Ayesha Harris has been a part of several shows including Daisy Jones and the Six, Glamorous, This Is Us, The L Word: Generation Q, Abbott Elementary, and Good Girls.
