Born to veteran actor, Dharmendra and his first wife, Parkash Kaur, Ajay Singh Deol a.k.a., Sunny Deol became a legend, just like his father, in his career span of almost four decades. Sunny made a Zabardast debut in 1983 with the film, Betaab, produced by his father. Even today, his powerful and whistle-worthy dialogues like 'Tareekh Pe Tareekh, Tareekh Pe Tareekh, Tareekh Pe Tareekh Milti Gayi My Lord, Par Insaaf Nahi Mila', 'Yeh Dhai Kilo Ka Haath Jab Kisi Pe Padta Hai Na To Aadmi Uthta Nahi Uth Jata Hai', 'Aap Khush Hain Ke Aap Ghar Ja Rahe Hain, Par Khushi Ka Ye Behuda Naach Achha Nahi Lagta' and 'Agar Aapka Pakistan Zindabad Hai Toh Isme Humein Koi Aitraaz Nahi Lekin Hamara Hindustan Zindabad Tha, Zindabad Hai Aur Zindabad Rahega', is fresh in the memory of his fans. In his Bollywood journey of 38 years, Sunny has given enough Imtihaan and in the end, he always achieved Jeet.
This Yamla Pagla Deewana has made everyone a fan of his Dillagi and with every release of his film, all we can say is Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. Known for his humble yet macho real-life persona and impressive performances, Sunny Deol has been in the headlines for his professional achievements. We know Sunny as an actor, director, producer and politician but little do we know about his personal life. In close to three decades of his career and despite hailing from a prominent family, Sunny had managed to keep his personal life away from the limelight. Let's take a look at Sunny's personal life, including his marriage and affairs:
Amid the fame and stardom, some celebs prefer to keep themselves away from the limelight, maintaining the privacy of their personal lives. Sunny Deol's wife, Pooja Deol, who is also known as Lynda Deol, is from London and is still a mystery to Deol fans. It was in 1984, a year after his Bollywood debut, that Sunny and Pooja had tied the knot in a typical Punjabi wedding. Reportedly, for their wedding, Pooja had opted for a traditional red bridal saree and Sunny had complemented her in a cream sherwani.
Though Pooja Deol is a mystery to the Deol fans, it is said that she is a writer by profession, who apparently had an uncredited contribution to the screenplay of the film, Yamla Pagla Deewana starring her father-in-law, Dharmendra, her husband, Sunny Deol and her brother-in-law, Bobby Deol. Despite a few affairs of Sunny with his co-stars, on which we'll be throwing some light in the following paragraphs, his married life with Pooja has been a successful one and the lovebirds are blessed with two handsome sons, Karan Deol and Rajveer Deol. Sunny Deol's children, Karan and Rajveer aspire to be actors and while the elder one had worked as an assistant director in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and made his Bollywood debut as an actor with the film, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, the younger one is still prepping up to pursue his dream.
Just like Pooja Deol, Karan Deol and Rajveer Deol had kept themselves away from the limelight, and Sunny Deol's family have rarely made public appearances with the actor. Karan and Rajveer had reportedly completed their education abroad and returned to India to pursue their dream to become actors. In an interview with the DNA, Karan had revealed why he was once embarrassed being Sunny's son. He had recalled:

"I still remember that sports meet in my school that I was part of. Three boys from a higher class came and lifted me in the air and said, 'Agar Sunny Deol ka beta hai to apne aap ko bacha ke dikha.' I was so embarrassed! The only support I had was my mother. So, at the time, it was tough to be a Deol."
In an interview with The Times Of India, Sunny Deol had thrown some light on how he is as a father. He had said:
"I am strict. When you tell your child to not do some things, you are called bad, but, actually, you are the right person. You are obviously saying it for his good. If you don’t tell him what is wrong, he will grow up and ask you why you did not tell him what was wrong when he was younger. So I just feel whatever you feel is wrong should be corrected right there and then. At the end of the day, a child will take his own decisions. He will say yes in front of you and will, in any case, do whatever he has to behind your back. We have also done that but at least we have to tell them what is wrong. A father needs to bring in that discipline. A father has to be a father. A mother has to be a mother. A friend has to be friend. If a father is going to be a friend, then who will be the father? When a person cannot be a father, he will be a friend. A father will not encourage a child to do what is wrong, whereas a friend would try and understand it."

Even after decades of the film's release, we cannot imagine someone else in the songs, Jab Hum Jawaan Honge, Jaane Kahan Honge and Baadal Yun Garajta Hai, Darr Kuch Aisa Lagta Hai other than actors, Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh. Sunny and Amrita's debut film, Betaab, not only gave them a platform to accomplish their dreams of becoming actors, the stardom they had desired but also their first fling. Modest and reserved Sunny's first short-lived affair was with Amrita. As much as Amrita and Sunny's on-screen chemistry was loved by the audience, the romance was brewing off-screen too, until, she came to know about his wife, Pooja Deol. It is also reported that Sunny was already a married man before he entered into the industry and because of his family's advice, he had kept his marriage with Pooja hidden from the world.
However, when the news broke out, Amrita Singh distanced herself from Sunny Deol and they never made an appearance together. Also, Amrita's mother, Rukhsana Sultana had objected to her daughter's relationship with a married man. Sunny Deol's mother, Parkash Kaur was against this relationship due to the same reasons. Amrita too, realised that she was in the wrong story and broke up with Sunny.
After Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh's affair fizzled out, the actor's newfound relationship was with his Manzil Manzil co-star, Dimple Kapadia. In no time, Dimple Kapadia's love story with Sunny became the talk of the town and it was her separated but legally married status with Rajesh Khanna that made the news even more controversial. Just like with Amrita, Sunny's relationship with Dimple was also short-lived but an infamous affair.
Sunny Deol and Dimple Kapadia had done five movies together including, Manzil Manzil, Arjun, Narsimha, Aag Ka Gola and Gunaah. Reports were that Sunny and Dimple were often spotted cosying up during the breaks on the film's sets. The rumour mills had even churned the speculations of Sunny and Dimple's secret wedding. Soon, Sunny had made a permanent place in Dimple's life, so much so that her daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna began to call him chhote papa, and her sister, Simple Kapadia too, became his costume designer. The Kapadia sisters came as a package with Sunny for every producer, who wanted to sign him.

In a throwback interview with a leading media portal, Amrita Singh had spoken about Dimple Kapadia and Sunny Deol's relationship and was quoted as saying:
"I think she's having her cake and eating it too. She's got nothing to lose and most importantly, she's got her guy where she wants him. So what if it's not heading anywhere? When you've already lived a life, you are happy with a relationship that's at status quo."
It was said that following the footsteps of his father, Dharmendra, who married Hema Malini without divorcing his first wife, Parkash Kaur, Sunny had also given the status of 'second wife' to Dimple. Despite the hearsay about their affair and a secret wedding, Sunny and Dimple had maintained silence about their alleged relationship and by 1987, it faded out without a trace. Some reports suggest that Sunny and Dimple had dated for 11 long years and some say that the two are still very much in love and together.
To prove these rumours rights, decades after the rumours of their affair fizzled out, Dimple Kapadia and Sunny Deol's photos and video, holidaying in Monaco and holding hands like teenage lovers had gone viral. The leaked pictures and video spotted yesteryear's couple, tightly holding each other's hand and indulged in a conversation. Apparently, Sunny and Dimple were holidaying, away from their respective families and media glare.
More than a decade after Sunny Deol's relationship rumours with Dimple Kapadia faded out, speculations of his fling with Ziddi co-star, Raveena Tandon came into the limelight. Raveena was having an emotional breakdown at that time because of her breakup with Akshay Kumar and she found solace in Sunny Deol. Reportedly, Raveena and Sunny came closer during the making of their film and gradually, their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship. But soon after the release of their film, Sunny and Raveena's affair dissipated.
Unlike Dharmendra, Sunny Deol chose to keep his love affairs under the wraps from the limelight. Not just that, Sunny even chose his wife, Pooja Deol, over his short-lived relationships. Sunny and Pooja's marriage is indeed the most obscure celebrity marriage in Bollywood. While Pooja is still a mystery to Bollywood fans, who has kept herself and her kids away from the limelight, we are excitedly looking forward to Karan and Rajveer making a name for themselves in the industry, just like their family.
