Sunjay Kapur's Mom Makes Shocking Claims, Calls Son's Death 'Suspicious', 'Behind Locked Doors...'

Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur's death, came as a shock to the entire industry. It was on June 12, 2025, when the former chairman and key figure of Sona Comstar passed away while playing polo. Reportedly, he swallowed a bee, which caused an allergic reaction in his body, leading to a cardiac arrest and eventually his demise. His last rites took place in New Delhi, and several glimpses made rounds on social media. Now, after more than a month of the untimely passing of Sunjay Kapur, his mom made some shocking claims, labelling it as suspicious.

Sunjay Kapur's mom, Rani Kapoor raises suspicions about her son's sudden demise

As per a report by News18, Sunjay Kapur's mom, Rani Kapur, after a month of her son's demise, raised suspicions. She reportedly wrote to Sona Comstar and asked them to postpone the annual general meeting. If the report is to be followed, in the note that Rani sent out to Sona Comstar, she wrote that her son passed away in highly suspicious and unexplained circumstances.

Rani Kapur further revealed not being able to receive answers about her son's death, and mentioned that the documents that explained her son's death were written in line with the speculated reports around. She further claimed that some people are trying to usurp the family legacy while they are still mourning Sunjay's sudden demise. Rani could be quoted as saying:

"On June 12, my son Mr. Sunjay Kapur tragically passed away under highly suspicious and unexplained circumstances in the United Kingdom. Despite all attempts, I am not able to receive answers about my son’s death. Despite me seeking information, I have been unable to receive any relevant answers and documents explaining the incident and have been confined to the knowledge and version set out by the media. While we’re in mourning, some people trying to usurp family legacy."

Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani, reportedly didn't give her consent for anyone to be a part of the board of the Sona Group of Companies, as of now. She claimed that she had been denied access to all her accounts, too. She mentioned being left to the mercy of a select few, and that too, only within a month of her son, Sunjay's passing. She reportedly said:

"I have been left to the mercy of a select few for survival. All this, in less than a month of my only son passing."

Sunjay Kapur's mom, Rani Kapur was forced to sign documents that she didn't understand

Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani Kapur, made some more shocking claims by stating that she was forced to sign documents behind locked doors. She reportedly claimed that even after she requested it, she didn't receive any kind of explanation of the content that the documents carried. Rani mentioned that she was not in that emotional state to go through the documents and understand what was written, but she was forced to sign the papers. Rani Kapur reportedly revealed:

"During the aforesaid period of grieving, I was approached multiple times and compelled to sign various documents without explanation or even having time to read and understand the same. Despite being under immense mental and emotional distress, I was coerced into signing such documents behind locked doors and though I’ve requested repeatedly, the contents of such documents have never been revealed to me."

Reports revealed who would possibly take forward Sunjay Kapur's Rs. 39,000 crore property

Earlier, a report by BollywoodLife claimed that Sunjay Kapur's legacy of Rs 39,000 crore would likely be divided between his two sisters, Superna Motwane and Mandhira Kapur. While there was no confirmation about the same, Sunjay had a 4-year-long dispute with his sister, Mandhira, who later regretted the same. After his demise, his third wife, Priya Sachdev was appointed as the non-executive director of the company, while Jeffrey Mark became the new chairman.
