Sunjay Kapur's Widow Priya Had A Lavish Wedding Worth Rs. 100 Crore With Hotelier, Vikram Chatwal

Indian businessman and Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur’s untimely death on June 12, 2025, shocked the business and entertainment world. Earlier, it was reported that the 53-year-old businessman suffered a cardiac arrest; however, later reports confirmed that he was stung by a bee. It so happened that Sunjay was playing a game of polo when, in the middle of the game, he swallowed a bee, which stung him, and he collapsed.

Seven days after his death, his funeral took place on June 19, 2025, in Delhi and was attended by Sunjay’s ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor, and their kids, Kiaan and Samaira. Sunjay's third wife, Priya Sachdev, was also spotted and looked devastated as she wept her heart out. For the unversed, after Sunjay’s divorce from Karisma Kapoor, he got married to former model Priya Sachdev, and the couple has a son, Azarias.

Vikram Chatwal is a popular name in international circuits. American hotelier and actor, Vikram, is the son of New York-based hotel magnate, Sant Singh Chatwal. A popular NRI, Vikram, was once named as one of the most eligible bachelors in the world by the BBC. Vikram has opened many chains of hotels under his brand, Chatwal Hotels. Apart from his business ventures, Vikram is the first Sikh model to appear in Vogue Magazine.

It was Vikram’s father, Sant Singh Chatwal, who arranged his alliance with Priya Sachdev. The two met and started dating, and got married. After a year of dating, Vikram proposed to Priya with a 10-carat diamond ring, and the two started their marital journey.

Just as his big name and lavish lifestyle, Vikram Chatwal’s wedding had to be a grand affair. The wedding was spread across three cities and lasted for 10 days. Fifty thousand kilos of flowers were shipped in from Holland, Bangkok, and Kolkata, and 3,000 candles were burned.

The pre-wedding started with a party in Mumbai, which was attended by Shah Rukh Khan, followed by a white party at a palace in Udaipur and a masked ball. The grand wedding ceremony took place in Delhi on February 18, 2006, along with all the Sikh ceremonies in the morning and a baraat at night.

When the Manhattan millionaire, Vikram Chatwal, married Delhi's socialite, Priya Chatwal, the city came to a standstill. The wedding in Delhi was attended by 600 eminent guests, including steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, Patricia Velásquez, Prince Nikolaos of Greece and many others.

Among the other close friends of the family were former US president Bill Clinton and his New York Senator wife, Hillary, who attended the event.
