After Sunjay Kapur's shocking and untimely death on June 12, 2025, his complex family dynamics have been put in the spotlight. Karisma Kapoor, was his second wife, and they had two children, Samaira and Kiaan. After a messy divorce, the businessman married Priya Sachdev, who had a daughter from her previous marriage named Safira. The couple then welcomed their baby boy, Azarius.
A family feud has taken place over the inheritance of Sunjay Kapur's Rs. 30,000 crore estate along with the ownership of his family business, Sona Comstar. Rani Kapur, the deceased's mother, has raised concerns over the management of his huge estate. Amid the confusion of who gets Sunjay Kapur's property, let's take a look at what his children and stepdaughter might inherit.
Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor were married in 2003 and parted ways in 2016. They share two children, Samaira and Kiaan. They are now 20 and 14 years old, respectively. Sunjay had gifted both the children bonds worth Rs. 14 crore. The doting father had also reportedly made sure to allot a monthly allowance of Rs. 10 lakh each for both the children. However, multiple reports have suggested that Samaira and Kiaan are the legal heirs to Sunjay and will be receiving what is due to them. Meanwhile, Karisma is allegedly not involved in the property matters at all.
Priya Sachdev was the third wife of the late Sunjay Kapur. As per the law, now she will be the one managing his assets and wealth. Priya had previously been married to another businessman, Vikram Chatwal and the two share a daughter, Safira. After her marriage to Sunjay, the latter had reportedly adopted Safira. Then Priya and Sunjay also had a baby boy named Azarius.
Inheritance laws state that in case of absence of a will, biological children are automatically recognised as legal heirs. Similarly, laws also highlight that step-children, if legally adopted, can also inherit property. So, Azarius is a legal heir to his father's estate. However, whether Safira is entitled to any share in the property depends on what Sunjay Kapur's will says, and if there is a will. Interestingly, if the reports are to be believed and Sunjay had in fact legally adopted Safira, then she won't be getting any shares from her biological father's property, since she isn't his legal heir anymore.
