Sunita Ahuja Says Govinda's 'Circle' Is Holding Him Back From Success In Career, 'They're Of No Use'

Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood star Govinda, is known for her unfiltered opinions, whether about the rest of the industry or her own family. The diva never holds back when it comes to dropping truth bombs. She likes to call a spade a spade rather than beat around the bush with fake flattery. In a recent interview, Sunita once again delivered a fiery and unapologetic statement when talking about the Hero No. 1 star’s declining career over the years.

Sunita Ahuja says she doesn’t appreciate flattery

During a candid conversation with The Powerful Humans, Sunita Ahuja impressed fans with her unapologetic stance when speaking about her relationship with her husband, Govinda. The diva, who often grabs the limelight with her fearless candour, once again dropped some truth bombs regarding her husband’s acting career and why he has been away from the silver screen for so many years. Without holding back, Sunita blamed Govinda’s ‘circle’ for his derailing career, adding that she doesn’t appreciate lies and flattery. In her words:

"Why has Govinda not been seen in so many years? The problem is that his circle is the wrong one… Today, my fights with him are because I can't lie, and I do not appreciate flattery.”

Speaking to Zoom a few weeks ago, Sunita raised a similar issue when she criticised Govinda for his lack of work in Bollywood despite being such a legendary actor, when other actors his age are actively working on the big screen.

Sunita Ahuja takes a direct dig at Govinda’s inner circle for derailing his career

Going ahead in her conversation with  The Powerful Humans, Sunita took a more direct dig at the people in Govinda’s circle who keep impressing him with fake flattery rather than speaking the truth. Without naming anyone, Sunita shared:

"Today he has four people - a writer, a musician, a secretary and a lawyer friend. They are of no use. They only say, ‘wah, wah!’ If he makes music, they say ‘wah, wah... kamaal kar diya.’ They should tell him the truth. When I tell him the truth, he gets upset.”

Sunita urges Govinda to embrace change

According to Sunita, the actor needs to leave his 90s era behind and embrace the modern dynamic of entertainment, leveraging digital media and OTT platforms. However, she doesn’t see it happening unless Govinda lets go of his ‘wah wah production’. In her words:

“I tell him the 90s era is over. It is 2025. Look at what’s working on Netflix and digital platforms. But he stays with his ‘wah, wah production’. I told him, ‘Change your circle. For as long as you have these 4–5 people, they won’t let you go forward.’”

About Govinda’s declining career

From being one of the most commercially successful actors in Hindi cinema during the 90s and early 2000s, Govinda witnessed a sharp decline in stardom post-2008. Despite attempting a comeback with supporting roles in films like Raavan and Kill Dil, he couldn’t regain his former glory. His last theatrical release was Rangeela Raja in 2019, where he played a double role, but the film was a major box office disaster, failing to recover even 1% of its budget. Since then, Govinda has largely remained absent from the film scene.
