Suniel Shetty Says He Had 'No Clue' About Paresh Rawal's Exit From 'Hera Pheri 3', 'We Shot A Promo'

Veteran actor, Paresh Rawal, left his co-stars and fans in shock when he announced his exit from Hera Pheri 3, the highly anticipated instalment of the iconic comedy film series. His abrupt exit has since caused a stir in the industry, as even the film’s director, Priyadarshan, and Paresh’s co-stars, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, had no clue about it. After Akshay’s legal notice to the actor, Suniel Shetty has broken his silence on the situation.

Suniel Shetty’s children informed him about Paresh Rawal's exit from Hera Pheri 3 

In an interview with India Today, Suniel Shetty expressed his ‘shock’ after getting to know about Paresh Rawal’s announcement of exiting the project, given that they had already even shot a promo. The actor shared that he had no clue about it until his children, Aathiya Shetty and Ahaan Shetty, informed him about it. Suniel said:

“We were going to begin shooting next year. We had already started, in fact. We shot a promo. It's a big thing. This is so shocking. I can't make sense of this. And you know who sent it? Athiya and Ahaan - they both sent it to me within 15 minutes, asking 'papa what is this?'. And I was here doing my interviews, and I felt like 'holy s***'. I have no clue about this. This is absolutely shocking. I first thought about texting him, and then I thought I’d meet him and discuss it. I have had no word about it with anybody. Even Akshay is clueless as to what happened.” 

Sharing that even Akshay Kumar did not know anything about it, the actor shared that he was shocked at the turn of events. Speaking to ANI, Suniel Shetty emphasised that the third part of this iconic film series just cannot happen without Paresh Rawal, the OG ‘Baburao Ganpatrao Apte’. He said:

“It cannot happen. 100 per cent cannot happen without Paresh Rawal. It can have a 1 per cent chance without me and Akshay, but 100% can’t happen without Paresh ji. No, it doesn’t. Raju and Shyam, if they’re not hammered by Babu here, it doesn’t work.”

Akshay Kumar’s Rs. 25 crore lawsuit against Paresh Rawal

Earlier, reacting to Paresh Rawal's abrupt exit from the film, his co-star, Akshay Kumar’s production house, issued a lawsuit of Rs. 25 crore against the actor, citing his sudden ‘walking out of’ Hera Pheri 3. Speaking about the same, the film’s director, Priyadarshan, told Hindustan Times that the actor had invested money in the project. He was quoted as saying:

“I don’t know why this happened because Paresh didn’t inform us. Before starting the film, Akshay asked me to check with both Paresh and Suniel and I did and both were onboard... I don’t have anything to lose but Akshay has invested money, and that could be the reason why he is taking this action.”

Paresh Rawal allegedly demanded more money for Hera Pheri 3 

While everyone is wondering what could be the reason behind Paresh Rawal’s decision to quit the iconic franchise, a report by IANS has revealed that the actor demanded extra payment for his role in the film, that too, after accepting the signing amount in the contract, which was also reportedly much higher than his usual fee. However, when his demand was not met, he decided to exit the film.
