Sturla Holm Laegreid's Girlfriend Responds To His Cheating Confession, 'It's Hard To Forgive..'

Famous 28-year-old Norwegian Olympian, Sturla Holm Laegreid, left everyone in shock when he made a shocking announcement. He recently finished third in the men's 20 km biathlon. But it is his confession of cheating on his present partner that left many baffled. Soon, his interview was widely circulated. Now, his present girlfriend reacted to his cheating confession.

After Norwegian biathlete Sturla revealed that he had an affair while he was dating, his current girlfriend responded. She chose not to reveal her identity and stay anonymous. She shared that for her it is hard to forgive, even after Surla announced his love for her publicly in front of the whole world. She stated that she didn't want to be in such a position as it is extremely hard. She further clarified that she had contacted Surla and he knows what she is feeling at this time. She wrote to Norwegian paper, VG:

"It is hard to forgive, even after such a public declaration of love in front of the whole world. I have not asked to be put in this position and it is hard to be there. We have had contact and he knows my feelings about this."

Surla's girlfriend further thanked her family and friends who became a support in these extremely tough times after the athlete opened up about the cheating confession. She even expressed her gratitude to people who sympathised with her without even know her identity. She wrote:

"My family and my friends who have embraced me and supported me during this – and to all others who have thought about me and sympathised with me, without knowing who I am."

Surla Holm Laegreid is one of the most famous biathletes in the world. He had won gold in the relay in Beijing four years ago. He had also bagged 14 world championship medals. However, his pubic confession of cheating on his girlfriend overshadowed his years of hard work.

On Febraury 10, 2026, during a live interview with the Norwegian broadcaster, NRK, Sturla revealed that he met his girlfriend six months ago, who is the most kindest and beautiful person he has ever since. However, it was his confession that changed people's opinion on him. Surla confessed that he cheated on his girlfriend three months ago. He called it the biggest mistake of his life and shared that he informed her about the same a week ago. He called it the worst week of his life. He was quoted as saying: 

"Six months ago, I met the love of my life and the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. And three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her. I told her about it a week ago. It's been the the worst week of my life. I had the gold medal in life, and I am sure there are many people who will see things differently, but I only have eyes for her. Sport has come second these last few days. Yes, I wish I could share this with her,”"

Sturla further explained that he decided to talk about his cheating act as a way to prove his love for his girlfriend. He stated that it was his only attempt to get things okay in their life. Sturla admitted that he made a mistake while he had gold in his life. And he knows people will see him in a different light now, but he only cares about the woman in his life. He admitted that sports has taken a backseat and he wants to share this with her.
