The last episode, titled 'The Rightside Up', will be a standalone, two-hour watch to close out the series. It will also be released in select theatres nationwide in tandem with its Netflix debut.

The final instalment of Stranger Things will take place a year after the last blow on Hawkins, the hometown of 'El', 'Mike', 'Will', 'Steve', 'Hopper', and more. Their town, which is their whole world, will turn upside down as the gateway to the world of 'Vecna' will be torn open. From selfless sacrifices to unavoidable deaths, the show is set to be a tearjerker. The teasers released by Netflix hinted that 'Will' would serve as the link between 'Vecna' and the real world. He might even become a pawn in his evil game, leaving him with no other choice but to lay down his life for the greater good.

The showrunners, Matt and Ross Duffer, also hinted at significant deaths occurring in the season finale.
