Abhishek Banerjee rose to fame with Shraddha Kapoor's Stree. However, his spectacular acting skills are not bound to a particular genre or acting style, and the actor has proved the same with his performance in Stolen. Despite being released in 2023, the film was not available on any streaming platforms, until June 4, 2025.
Stolen is finally available to be streamed on Amazon Prime Videos from June 4, 2025. The film was screened at various film festivals before it finally made its way to the streaming platform. Directed by the debutant, Karan Tejpal, the film, despite being a long 90-minute watch, zips through like a smooth race, pushing you to the edge of your seat when you least expect it.
The film was set around the background of a child being kidnapped from a sleeping mother at a railway station. The scene revolves around two brothers, 'Gautam', essayed by Abhishek Banerjee and 'Raman', portrayed by Shubham Vardhan, who are in a rush to attend their mother's destination wedding. However, on the way, they encounter a woman named 'Jhumpa' played by Mia Maelzer, which turns the entire trajectory of their trip.
What started as a lighthearted conversation and casual banter between two brothers soon turns into a nightmare as 'Jhumpa' accuses 'Raman' of being a possible accomplice in the abduction of her child. As the local police get involved, things get even more tense. With temper rising and no concrete evidence, the suspicion soon is drawn towards the two brothers who, despite their pleas, sink into the quicksand of what will turn out to be the most terrifying time of their lives.
Stolen is a fast, tense and extremely rigid flow of events. The film will take you on a rollercoaster ride, with jumps and chills where you least expect them. The film's unpredictability makes it an exceedingly intriguing watch for the viewers. The film explores various themes, like casteism, mob lynching, and the ever-increasing gap between the haves and have-nots.

Director, Karan Tejpal, despite Stolen being his debut film, has worked wonders. The film brings out the most raw, unrehearsed and utterly engaging performances from the cast. While the characters of 'Raman' and 'Gautam' become the face of the madness, the supporting cast adds an undeniably capturing essence to the film. The precise camera work and intricate dialogues and writing make the film even more engaging.
The attempt to keep most of the film real and gritty works beautifully. Stolen is believed to be one of the finest works to come from a first-time filmmaker, and the storyline backs Karan Tejpal just as wonderfully. The agony, fear, and pain of a mother for her child, combined with the sense of entrapment by the brothers, makes it impossible for one to get distracted.
