The wait is finally over! Netflix’s record-breaking Korean survival thriller, Squid Game, is all set to return today, June 27, 2025, with its third season. Bringing back the central protagonist, ‘Seong Gi-hun’ and several other key characters, Season 3 will be the final instalment of this franchise, and the global fandom is buzzing with anticipation. Well, as the series gears up to take viewers on one last deadly ride, here’s a complete breakdown of the OTT series, from Indian release time, what to expect from the season, and why fans believe it’s going to be the most intense chapter of the Squid Game franchise to date.
Squid Game 3 is all set to air in India, and all Indian fans of the series can start streaming it on June 27, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. IST. Unfortunately for many, the third season can be exclusively streamed on Netflix, and non-subscribers would not be able to access it. The release time of Season 3 in India aligns with Netflix’s standard global launch schedule, with all episodes dropping simultaneously. So, if you're planning a binge-watch session, block your afternoon and get ready for a thrilling ride.
While Season 1 had nine episodes and Season 2 had seven, the final season will have only six episodes. However, don’t get disheartened; within just six episodes, Squid Game 3 promises to be significantly more intense and drama-packed than its previous two instalments.
Squid Game 2 ended with a major cliffhanger, leaving viewers with a range of emotions, from heartbreak and rage to confusion. ‘Seong Gi-hun’, aka Player 456 was left emotionally shattered after he witnessed the brutal death of his closest friend, ‘Jung-bae’, killed by the ‘Front Man’ under a false identity. While ‘Gi-hun’ attempted to rebel inside the deadly game, he faced a crushing defeat. Meanwhile, more secrets about the organisation unravelled, including shocking betrayals from within, and a major cliffhanger.
The third season of Squid Game picks up where it left off in Season 2. ‘Gi-hun’ is no longer just a survivor of the game; he is now on a mission to destroy the whole system of the game from the inside. However, his quest to rise up the twisted system and dismantle it will be a far more dangerous feat than the game itself.

So Gi-hun will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone’s resolve. With each round, their choices lead to increasingly grave consequences."
The third and final season of the Squid Game franchise will have several returning faces, including Lee Jung-jae as 'Seong Gi-hun' (Player 456), Lee Byung-hun as the ‘Front Man’, Wi Ha-jun as the missing detective, ‘Hwang Jun-ho’, Yim Si-wan as ‘Myung-gi’ (Player 333), Kang Ha-neul as ‘Dae-ho’ (Player 388), Park Gyu-young as ‘No-eul’, Jo Yuri as ‘Jun-hee’ (Player 222), and Yang Dong-geun as ‘Yong-sik’ (Player 007).
